The King's Speech / late to the party much? We finally watched this last week and I was enthralled. I thought it was stunningly beautiful. The direction, the acting, the story. I was so into it I forgot where I was. Hell, I forgot who I was. I loved it. In the worlds of Leslie Knope, "I cannot over-hype it enough."

Parks

Parks & Recreation / speaking of Leslie Knope and being late to the party. Not sure why it took me so long to jump on this train, but I'm on now and holding on for dear life. I haven't been this committed to watching a show on a loop since Arrested Development (which is obviously the greatest show ever). / image via gq.com

The Help / adored this book. And I'm excited that it's going to be a movie. I usually love watching good books become movies. I think I'll see this one as a matinee by myself once we get Paul shipped off. I'm also excited about seeing Midnight in Paris, Page One & of course, the Harry Potter finale. (Luckily Paul will still be in town for that one.) Another sidenote : I love Kindle books on the iPad. I know it's not for everyone, and I certainly didn't think it was for me, but turns out – totally is. I'm hooked for life.

Anything else I should be obsessed with? Books? Movies? Shows? I'm going to have seven months of free time that needs to get filled up…

I’ve heard rave reviews about The Help, so yours was the final one that convinced me to go ahead, and purchase it. And, yes, I totally agree on being excited for the HP finale! 🙂
As for recommendations, I’d definitely go with Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson, The History of Love by Nicole Krauss, and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

Markus Zusak is an aussie like me- highly recommended book.
Have you watched ‘west wing’? Been on loop in my house for far too long. Otherwise you might be able to find this halarious Aussie series called ‘offspring’. Seriously, I cannot over-hype it enough 🙂

Have you tried Game of Thrones? I thought it would be totally awful and not my thing. But now I am obsessed with it! Intrigued, deception, betrayal, love and loss. The series is on HBO, but you can buy books one through four now. Give it a try…you might be surprised. Bonus: the books are super long, so it should take you plenty of time to read each one.

Arrested Development is hilarious. The character development is amazing. My husband and I are still watching it on Netflix. Try The league on Netflix ad well. Love the quirky relationships.

My husband and I are 20 years late to the Twin Peaks party. It’s on Netflix (streaming) and we’ve been loving it! It’s cheesy, hilarious and freaks me out all at the same time.

My husband loves Arrested Development!! We’ve also really enjoyed a few British shows, particularly The Coupling and The IT Crowd (my husband is a tech guy, so it’s very fitting). All the characters are funny and lovable 🙂 Highly recommended!!

I’m obsessed with Inception. Everything is great about this movie. We bought the soundtrack and I love it. My favorite track is called “Dream is collapsing”, and after listening to it 376892023 times, I watched the scene in the movie where it’s played. The beggining of the song is perfectly timed with the line “we are actually asleep”, the moment where the subject (Saito) says he knows he is dreaming.
Anyway, you have to see it. It’s a masterpiece. My favorite movie of all time.

I’m hooked on reading books on my iPad, too (though I’ve been using iBooks)- I’ve been blasting through them. I still struggle with feeling a bit guilty for not having an actual book in my hand.
If you guys have HBO (we just got it), I love the HBO GO app for iPad. I’ve never had HBO in my life, so now I’m catching up on all the good series that I’ve missed over the years. Larry and I are watching an episode or two per night in bed on the iPad.

We just got HBO so my boyfriend could watch Game of Thrones – I totally wasn’t interested – “fantasy dork shows” (as I call them, to tease him) are most definitely NOT my thing. But turns out – I love it. I do have to turn my head away from the tv during some of the gory scenes, but I’m totally hooked. I don’t think I’ll go so far as to read the books, but I’m definitely looking forward to Season 2 next spring!

If you haven’t read the Hunger Games … you MUST! And it is being made into a movie to release next March (I will so be there.)
I loved my Android app for Kindle, I BOUGHT a Kindle (love the non-glare surface). Now, I don’t really buy a book unless it is on Kindle (and I love getting all the free kindle books too!)

I have to agree that the help is amazing and I cannot wait to see the movie. I have not seen the king’s speech either. My son said midnight in paris is very good. I just got an iPad and have yet to read a book on it. I can recommend Anne patchett truth and beauty and the one by her friend Lucy grealy autobiography of a face. I loved them both. Read lucy’s first. Have fun reading! Ciao!

I would add The Gargoyle to the literary pot. As mentioned before, Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson is a great super fast awesome read perfect for summer time.
I jumped on the ereader train this past spring and while I still haven’t exclusively converted I find I like it.

My favorite show is True Blood! And last year I started to read the books and I got even more obsessed with the show! I just got the HBO go app on my iPhone and now can watch all the past seasons.
Netflix Streaming is great, I use it mainly to catch up on tv series. I watch it on my iPhone and we have the Apple TV at home. Sometimes it sucks not have the full selection on Netflix because we don’t get the DVD’s just streaming. But for 7.95 a month I can’t complain.

Parks and Rec. is the funniest show ever especially when someone (or yourself) have worked for any form of government. I also love the Sookie Stackhouse series but am not a fan of True Blood, not as funny. As for reading on an IPad the glare started to bother my eyes so I purchased a kindle…love it!
