Good news : I found out yesterday that I will be a participant in the Queen Bee Market this May. Hooray! I have heard a lot of good things about this fair and I hope it will be a good fit for me.

I will have a 4×8 foot booth to fill and will be working for the next seven weeks to get some displays put together. (And of course, product to fill the displays.) One of my goals after my first craft fair was to come up with a way for all 5×7 prints to be front faced and therefore easy to see and shop. This display was created to serve that purpose.

It came together pretty easily with stuff we had around the house. I had extra plywood left over from the headboard and some gray circle fabric that I never ended up using for the wedding. I wrapped the fabric around the plywood and held it in place with a staple gun. Next, I layered ribbons in my "colors" (which are basically the 9 colors that the my prints come in) over the top and stapled them around the back too. To make the ribbons tighter, I added thumbtacks where they overlapped. Because they were being pushed into wood, I had to hammer them in which resulted in a few bent tacks, but they are there to stay now.

I have been playing around a lot with the orientation of the board and the prints. I am not sure if I am going to prop it horizontally on a table or if I will prop it vertically against the table. It will depend on what other displays I put together, I suppose. Either way … exciting! And also … OH MAN, I have so much to do.

Congrats, Elise! How exciting. I like what you did with the board – very eye catching. Hmmm…I am not sure what else you have to display, but I have seen people string up twine/rope/string and use clothes pins to hang up items they want to display. I cannot wait to see your whole display come together.

Great job! Is there anyway you could cut a wood circle in half and then put slits in the half circle to put the board in? Then you wouldn’t have to prop it up and worry that the weight could knock it over. The last thing you want is be worrying every time someone bumps the table.
    Good luck!
Denise (who really hopes to be in your blog class)

The board is a perfect way to display your prints! Another item you could use in your display is a cupboard organizer used to hold baking sheets. Propped open vintage suitcases are always a classic, too 🙂

Oh, your display board looks amazing! Totally inspires me to revisit this project as a pinboard … I remember laying out plan after plan as a teen for stuff like this, but never actually started to bring them to life. This is something I find so admirable and inspiring – you just seem to DO stuff, instead of re-re-re-thinking it. Kudos!

you could get an easel and prop it up on that… that way it isn’t “on the floor”…
    looks great!

I’ve been to tons of craft fairs, and it seems like the best way to set up displays is by putting them on tables. I noticed the closer displays are to the ground, the easier it is to overlook them. Also, if there are lots of people around, the chances of your displays getting bumped or knocked over are higher.
Whatever you decide, I’m sure it’ll be amazing!
