40loaves

Bread no. 5 : whole wheat biscuits from allrecipes.com.

Adjustments : nada. I followed the recipe exactly & cut the dough into circles with an upside down water glass.

Notes : This was my first run at biscuits that didn't pop out of a can. Easy!

Review :  These were AWESOME the first day and right out of the oven. They got stale quickly though. Perfect for a big group so they can get eaten up right away.

I have been meaning to try biscuits – I will have to make these! I have made a couple things out of the book Kneadlessly Simple, which I really like because the recipes are indeed simple.

Those look great. I bet they’d be great with the honey almond butter I had last night.

I love making biscuits & since it’s just the two of us at home I typically just bake what I need for the day & freeze the rest. The easiest way to do this is cut them out so they are ready for baking, plot them on a baking sheet and set it in the freezer for a couple of hours. Once they are frozen drop them into a ziplock and you are good to go… fresh biscuits any night you want them. You can bake them right from frozen, it’ll just take a couple extra minutes!

Yes to the freezing… Mom and I make whole wheat everything… that’s the trick to keeping stuff good when you can’t eat it all at once 🙂 My husband thinks I’m crazy because I’m always freezing everything. Haha 🙂

Yum, this is making me crave biscuits…and I love the freezer idea! Whenever mine go stale, I use them for strawberry shortcake, they soak up the juices and then being stale’s not a problem anymore.

I was going to mention freezing them too. In college my roommate would make big batches of blueberry muffins and froze most of them, making for an easy breakfast or snack.
    Thanks for sharing this recipe!

I just ran across your blog and love it! I have been getting into bread making too and just decided the other day that I want to make a new type of bread each week. Can’t wait to see some of the other breads you try!
