See you, January.

Overall, it was very productive month. The best part? I ran 51 miles. And 19 of those were ran outside which is something new and as it turns out, works much better for me. Though I am far from the rest of this year's goals, I think I'll get run 365 miles tackled by August. Work-wise, I was very glad to get past workshop PDFs released.

And of course, in January I got started on that crazy quilt. Guess what? The quilt layers are all joined together. I finished the hand-stitching over the weekend thanks to Arrested Development seasons 2 and 3. That's the best show to quilt along with ever. Now I just need to get the binding around the edges and it's complete.

GOALS for February : finish decorating our bedroom, buy plane tickets for travels next fall when Paul is deployed, complete my 25 @ 25 book (I turn 26 this month) & start serious planning on the web design for bloggers workshop.

It's going to be a good one.

hi elise! your talk about goals has gotten me inspired to do a better job of making and keeping mine – your huge monthly calendar seems like a good way to start. i think you mentioned where you got it in a previous post, but i can’t remember – would you mind sharing again? thanks!!

i think your class would be something i am super interesting in taking. i am a graphic designer- but print only; i have little to no experience with web design and get overwhelmed trying to teach myself- but have a feeling your class would be well organized. i am really excited about it. 🙂

Oh, you’re so productive! Can’t wait to hear where you’ll be traveling when Paul’s deployed. Also, will you write more about the making of the quilt – I love to see some how-tos and tips from someone who jumped right in and did it without prior quilting experience!

I just saw those at my local C & B store, they were on sale. So, even though they are sold out online you might find one at a store!

I love your monthly wrap up posts, as well as your she & he posts. It’s inspired me (better word than copy) to do a monthly wrap up on my own blog as well!
Also, I can’t wait for your next class. Your mini book class was wonderful and I’m sure you’ll make what seems like a complicated task manageable when it comes to web design!

I am so impressed with how fast you finished that quilt…. no wonder you had to run so much, you needed to give you hand a rest/ move your body! congrats onyour first quilt!

    Good month.
I was wondering why you decided to hand quilt the quilt? I have no idea how to make one but would love to and always imagined shoving all the layers through the machine…. am I missing the obvious newby quilter error here?

Okay Elise, I’ve been meaning to tell you, I’m so impressed with your quilt! I really, really love it! First of all, it screams YOU. Second of all, you’ve done an amazing job powering through it and making it happen! Bravo.

I am going to be talking more about the quilt when I am finished, but most quilts are stitched through all three layers ever few inches or so to hold it all together. The stitches become part of the pattern. My sewing machine is too small to handle all that fabric (keep in mind, this is a bed sized quilt) so I did it by hand.

I’m not sure if you’ve already started binding or not, but this tutorial:

was VERY helpful (and surprisingly easy!) when I bound my first quilt and didn’t know where to start. 🙂

I love running outside too. In fact, I’ve never tried running inside. (No gym membership & no treadmill). Even in winter weather I’d rather be out then in! Happy February. 🙂
