40loaves

Bread no. 3 : garlic rolls, adapted from this recipe.

Adjustments : Two cups of white flour and about two cups of wheat instead of just white. Substituted splenda for the 1/3 C white sugar (but used regular sugar for the first water & yeast mixture). Used garlic salt instead of regular salt for the topping.

Notes : Perfect size and easy to shape in the cupcake tins. I might try this garlic bread recipe which looks a bit more involved next.

Review : We're obsessed with garlic and these were amazing. Highly recommend the wheat flour substitute.

I have a new years goal to bake at least ONE loaf of bread in my new dutch oven. These look so good, I might have to make an amendment.

I am sure that it does. But I have never made these with all white flour so I couldnt tell you how much. Wheat flour fills you up better!

Had these for dinner and they were delicious! I added more garlic because that’s what we do ’round here and we loved the flavor of the wheat flour. Thanks Elise, my belly is full.:)

hi elise. i stumbled on your blog and have been following it for quite some time.
i, too, have taken on a love for breadbaking. such a sensory experience. i love the kneading, the steam, the popping at the end.
i am very fond of peter’s books but recently came across “my bread” by jim lahey. he uses the no knead dutch oven method. i’ve been cooking my way through the book, and every recipe has been top quality. the pizza crust is the best i’ve tried.
thought i’d recommend this approach to you. you won’t be disappointed!
