I love goals and resolutions. I've been thinking about these for about a month and finally, I got them nailed down. I am focusing on things that will take the whole year to accomplish and have divided them into two categories : personal and business. Today, I want to share the personal ones.

IMG_9511

It's a mile a day or three miles every three days. I reached my goal weight for my wedding last April and am just hoping to maintain where I am at in 2011.

This sounds funny, I know. But it's part of my plan to get more flexible and bring a bit more yoga back into my life. I have never been able to do them although I came close one summer when I was going to yoga classes everyday.

This also sounds so random. The main idea is to not hoard products and make the packages and letters I send more exciting. I hope my stash is down to zilch by the end of 2011 – and then I'll restock with more colors and patterns.

Paul and I decided that of all my goals, this is the hardest one. It's more than three loaves a month which is far more than I am currently baking. But soft pretzels & rolls count. I have two beautiful bread books and I want to try so many of the recipes. Hopefully this is the push I need.

Overall, pretty simple and enjoyable goals. I am not trying to quit anything or really start anything – I am just trying to improve and make more of an effort in a few different areas. The main plan is to create more and move more. That doesn't sound too daunting.

Aside, I made these tags as a way to share on the blog what my goals were. And then became obsessed with tag making. I love the small space to work with. Trying to figure out what to do with them and how to make more of them to document stuff I do this year… I'll keep you posted.

how tos for the tags : 2011/ I painted the tag lime green, let it dry and then and adhered handcut numbers out of contact paper. I painted over that with gold paint, let it dry again and pulled up the contact paper. #1/ I rubbed a colored pencil on a piece of computer paper on the bottom tread of my running shoe then trimmed the paper to tag size and stitched into place with my sewing machine. #2/ I took a photo of how far I can currently do the splits (most awkward photo ever), printed it and then cut a silhouette around it and a piece of black paper. I added that to a tag that had been covered with woodgrain contact paper. #3/ I wrapped the tag completely with different washi tapes. #4/ I printed a 4×6 photo of a loaf of bread, adhered it to the tag and trimmed around it.

Those are great goals! It’s nice to know that someone else has trouble with the “hoarding” of supplies!
    Good luck with these goals!

such thoughtful goals! in support of your 40 loaves goal, i highly recommend “no knead bread”: http://smittenkitchen.com/2006/11/one-for-the-sling-files
i’m sure there are lots of more interesting and challenging recipes in your bread books but my brother-in-law swears by this recipe and i can attest to the yumminess. it’s a great bread with dinner, a ciabatta replacement for any sandwiches giada makes or whatever and has become a staple for their house.
    cheers & good luck!

Love this post. The tags are a fun way to get the goals on paper. What kind of bread maker do you have?

Hi Elise – If you’re interested, I am currently in the middle of a bread-baking venture, with the goal of baking my own bread until the end of 2011. I’m posting recipes and ideas each month:

Have you heard of Daily Mile? It’s a website where you can log your miles. It also keeps track of how many donuts you’ve burned and how many times you’ve gone around the world.

Your goals are so healthy! I have not made mine yet. But I haven’t even thought of putting health on them… maybe I should.

My favorite thing about reading your blog is that each entry always sounds so well thought out, and this one is no exception. I also really enjoy the balance between what you share about your personal life and what you share about your professional/business life. I don’t actually have a list of “favorite blogs” (since I myself don’t have a blog), but if I did, I know that yours would be on it. Hope you enjoy the last few days of 2010.

love these goals. and IMPROVING!! LOVE that. So far I only have one goal, and it is to open myself up to dating and go on some dates with guys I don’t really know. That seems like a whole new world to me so I am going to try to be more on board and less stubborn about it. Haha, didn’t mean to write a novel, off to think of some things to improve : ) I certainly dont really need NEW things to take on

this is a great idea! not only does it look fun to make, but it’s a great way of reminding yourself of what your goals were! I might go home and make some tonight and put them on my craft board (to remind me of my goals!) 🙂

I too am a product hoarder. I want to use up my stash too. I think it’s time the electric bill and it’s ugly pre-addressed envie gets a little washi tape make over each month! lol

great resolutions! can’t wait to see all the bread you make…btw, my future father-in-law makes an amazing cheddar cheese and jalapeno bread that he’s going to teach me the next time it rains. he says bread comes out better in rainy weather, and i’d have to agree.

You remind me of my friend, Sharon. She also loves to make her own bread in advance. Well, she used to bake for me, but since we’re continents away now, I ended up buying my own. She is also a runner like you, and she’s a nature’s advocate as well. She’s planning to plant 100 trees this year, and I’m planning to save $100 of cash every payday for me to visit her. I hope I could find a merchant to trade my chest filled with gold for money just to have a day with her. Oh my! I feel like I sound so gay, but I really just feel comfortable with her.

Your goals are great! I heart goals too! (and drawing and breadmaking!) There is an amazing no-knead recipe that you can keep in your fridge and bake whenever you want. From 5 minute Artisan breads or something. I just tried it and is fun – though I generally love kneading 🙂
