I am trying something different with my fall minibook this year. At first I thought I would just skip it. You might have noticed I've been having trouble getting on-going albums to… keep going.

But then I realized I have been taking photos and collecting bits ANYWAY, so I might as well keep them together using the fall kit. For now though, I am not calling this a fall book. It's a pile. An ordered pile that sits on the corner of my desk. I am cropping papers and gluing photos (printed at home) back to back. And ordering the pages chronologically. Then at the end of the November, I'll punch holes and tie it all together to become a book.

Maybe this will relieve some of the pressure? Make it feel less like something that has to be finished and more of just a collection? I tend to do better with paper collections than I do with on-going albums.

We'll see.

fall minibook kits are on sale for $8

Love the colours & textures – but then I love anything FALL! Thanks, less pressure is good. I have so many projects and piles, sometimes it is difficult to see my art table!

Great stuff! My fall book is coming along nicely too. How did you do that collage of your iPhone photos? Did you merge them in Photoshop before printing or something? They look so cute! 🙂

Thank you! Yes, I made the collage of iPhone photos and then printed at home to be 4×6

Loving the way the colours are coming together. I’m all for strategies to keep a project fun and creative. Once I call it a layout or a minibook then I’m overcome with stress to fiinsh it perfectly, instead of enjoying the journey!

Hey Elise – thanks for sharing a bit about your process with your fall book. I’m doing the same pile first, then assemble together technique. So far, it seems to be working well for me. I have to wait for photos to arrive from the processor anyway, so it feels more natural to wait on the binding until I’m ready for that step. I can focus on making pages I love from the start (and figuring out a design style I can replicate), rather than trying to manuever pages that are already assembled. I think I’ll try the same strategy with my holiday daily. I’ve worked it the other way in the past, and found I didn’t enjoy the process as much as I would have liked.

I’m loving all the fall colors. What a fun idea to put all those polaroids on one sheet! This is going to be another amazing mini book of yours, Elise! Thanks for sharing.

OK, another obsession of mine. Do you have a template to make the 6 photos on one 4 x 6. I am a photoshop spaz and need a template. or step by step instructions. Is there any chance you can point me in the right direction?

No quick tricks. Save your photos as 2×2 squares and drag to a 4×6 canvas.
