My parents drove down from Sacramento on Saturday with a U-HAUL full of wedding gifts and other fun things we were storing until we found a place. We spent Sunday clearing out boxes and setting up shop. And going crazy with projects. At one point, my mom was sewing curtains, I was recovering chairs, my dad was building shelving and Paul was cooking dinner.

It was a great day. The apartment is looking rad, I learned how to use my new sewing machine and Paul finally understands why I often shout "Let's just DIY it!" It's in my blood.

I hope to have the apartment ready for a full photo tour in a week or so. There are still so many projects I want to take on (making posters, sewing a duvet cover, trying to make these) but the details are coming together!

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day and because Stephanie says it so much better : please read this.

    i am anticipating a move when my husband finishes residency and goes on to fellowship, and i have to admit, that it is bringing me a sense of relief to see you go calmly through the process and even enjoying it! 🙂
    fun that you got a new sewing machine–what machine did you get? learning to sew is on my “i want to learn to do one day” list but looking at the features on different machines gets so confusing!

    I hope you don’t find this patronising, but I am absolutely loving your enthusiasm for setting up your first married home. Your posts are a breath of fresh air, and remind me to keep being creative in my own home. Looking forward to seeing more of your projects!

    Hey, so does that mean you’ll be showing us a bunch of awesome sewing projects you’ve done? Yay! Good luck with the sewing. Hope to get a machine (if I can fit it into our new place) soon. {was going to ask what you got – but you already answered that!}

    Well you are doing fabulous on your new machine!
    I think you need to run up a few summer skirts. A DIY is on my blog….not telling you to head there or looking for any self promoting as the pattern is from a gorgeous blog I read….
    Just letting you know because the pattern is so simple and easy and once you make one skirt, you will not be able to stop!
