Sheandhe2
They secured a San Diego apartment in a walkable
neighborhood. This is good. She has never really lived in a walkable
neighborhood. He has, but it's been awhile.

She ordered a custom address stamp five hours after they signed a lease.

He set up the internet/TV in record time.

(Priorities.)

She's loving the fresh start that comes with a new place but really wishes there was a magic button which would remove the tons of cardboard from the apartment.

They bought some herbs and set up a little window garden. They are sort of obsessed with these plants.

He doesn't have to report to work for one and a half weeks.

They are loving the extra time together. And by extra time she of course means all day, every day. And therefore, she isn't really reporting to work for one and a half weeks.

They've been married for a month. And so far it's been very good with
some bad. (Like when they spent two weeks apart.)

Next week, they'll tackle their greatest married challenge so far : the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

Welcome to San Diego – as for the DMV. make an appt for the Hillcrest location – wait times there are always so easy.

For this one, I set it on a 2-second timer at a stoplight and didnt say anything to Paul. Hes pretty used to my camera antics. Because I knew he wouldnt look, I didnt look. We have 1000 looking at the camera photos so its fun to get something different.

yipeee! as for the DMV – make an appt online! i don’t know exactly what you have to do, for my name change and updated picture (new license), i was literally parked, in, out and back in my car in under 20 minutes. a delight!

So cute! My hubby and I just moved too, so I feel your pain re: the cardboard. We put a listing for FREE MOVING BOXES on Craigslist and they were gone within hours. Also, my CA DMV experience last week was not too bad. My advice is to go first thing in the morning; if you’re there before the doors open you’ll be one of the first in line and be in and out in no time. Good luck!

Wow! Can’t believe it’s been 1 month since the wedding! Congrats on the SD apartment. My husband went to SDSU for his undergrad (we are both from and live in Miami). I LOVE SAN DIEGO (and California for that matter.) So happy for you both. Enjoy these next couple of weeks!

May I ask: what is a NON-walkable neighborhood? Does it mean you can’t go anywhere in walking distance (like stores)? Or aren’t there any sidewalks? 🙂 This German girl just can’t grasp the concept.

I consider a walkable neighborhood to be one where you can walk down the street to a restaurant or coffee shop or store. In the past, I have lived in more residential areas where its just houses for as far as you can comfortably walk. 🙂

Love your She & He series, Elise. You have inspired me to create a mini to record this snapshot of my life with my partner of 12 years. It will be funny to look back on it in years to come – wish I’d done it ages ago! 🙂
Best wishes for your new home together. P.S. I am so not into weddings but even I adored all your fabulous wedding posts!
