enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

I shared how I asked my bridesmaids, but I haven't had a post yet about who I asked. I wish I had a photo of us all together, but I've got a feeling by Sunday there will be a few. So here are my girls :

Kris
Kristen is my maid of honor. She's Paul's sister and my best friend. Yep, I was friends with the sister and that's how I met the man. When you tell people that they look at you like your just said you like to light yourself on fire. But for us? It's fabulous. We have known each other since 5th grade and as of Saturday around 4:30, my friend will become my sister. Out of control.

Kiss
Ashley, aka "Kiss", is a friend from high school. We met through our freshman cheer squad and have been connected ever since. She has been in the Peace Corps helping in Guatemala for the past two years and because she's amazing she flew home for the wedding. She got in this weekend and is getting used to things like showers and cars again. I miss her. I love her.

Katy
Katy has been my friend since 5th grade. We've done jazz class, beach walks, junior high, high school, Harry Potter Book Club, Europe and Gold River together. Right now she's a teacher in Gilroy but I hope next year she's back in LA so we can do Southern California together.

Hano
Erin (far right), aka "Hano", (we're big on shortening last names around here – yes, they call me "Blah") I've known from a far since 5th grade, but known up close since we were on cheer together in high school. She that girl who walks into a room and makes it sparkly. The girl that makes it so easy to pick right back up where you left off. She's also getting married, and I'll be in her Hawaii wedding in July. She does an awesome dolphin impression.

Froshyear
I had to post this photo because it's my four high school bridesmaids visiting me at USC. This was taken around week two of college. We were 18. Tiny babies.

Bill
Melanie, aka "Bill", is a sorority girlfriend who currently lives in Chicago. She's a Friend's genius. As in she is not only an amazing friend, but she knows the series better than me. Probably also better than Marta Kauffman and David Crane. She's opposed to any and all punctuation and addicted to cupcakes. I'm addicted to her. Thankfully, she just got back in SC for grad school so she might be in LA next year.

Vero
veronica, aka "vero" or "vern", is another sorority girlfriend and my internet soulmate. I'm not saying we'd be matched on match.com, I'm just saying if it's online and I've seen it, she's seen it. And vice versa. And Essie mint nail polish. She's the girl I email from the dressing room before I decide if I need a hot pink romper. She's the girl who replies within a minute, that "yes, it is a good buy." love. xo.

I am so blessed with amazing girlfriends. I could write a book (already there is a pretty extensive google doc in the works) about these girls and the other cool college/high school friends coming to the wedding. I'm the first of my girls to be married so this marks a BIG reunion for my college crowd. We're already trying to line up the next engagement so we can be together again.

Just got so excited for the wedding AGAIN. This whole week is full of "DUDE. I'm getting married!" moments. ALSO, I hate facebook but I have to say, the stroll I just took through my photos was pretty priceless.

I love that you’re taking the time to document all this! I just read Steph Howell’s blog on her marraige advice. I couldn’t agree with her more! Definitely enjoy the time together before kids. Travel when you can. Also, stop & enjoy the moment of your wedding. It goes by so fast! We’re coming up on our 12 year wedding anniversary in a few weeks. We both still clearly remember how fast it goes by. Just like your blog says…enjoy it!

I was best friends with my husband’s sister in high school and college. I know exactly the look you are talking about! But hey at least I knew the kind of family I was getting myself into long before I said “I do”. I wish you a happy and hopefully stress free last few days! Congratulations!

My husband’s sister is my best friend, too, although we didn’t become close until after the wedding. We love to tell people we’re sisters and leave off the “in-law” part.
    Fun post!

What a great story and it’s great that you’re still so close with high school and college friends. I loved reading the marriage advice from your friends. Great advice.

My mom married her best friend’s brother in 1964.
Being a sister-in-law (or in my case, I drop the “in-law” part…these girls are my SISTERS) is a special relationship that cannot be replicated anywhere else.
    Congratulations!
    xoxo.
