AND continuing the "no surprise left behind for the wedding guests week" – Our place cards!

I bought place cards last summer at Paper Source and figured eventually I'd come up with a way to decorate them. After reading a bunch of posts on Japanese washi tape here last month, I thought of a solution.

We are serving three different options of entrees : chicken, steak and veggie. I needed a quick way to delineate for the servers which guest gets what. Enter colored tape. One color for each dish. I wrapped a piece of tape around the front of 165 cards yesterday and am going to start writing the names on the front and numbers on the back today.

Like every other DIY project I've got in the air for this wedding, the goal for these is to "keep it simple" & "fit the color scheme."

Love it. So simple and classy. Washi tape is fantastic, but every time I use it I start obsessing over whether my lines are straight or not.

Awesome idea. I love the idea of using different colored tape. I have a feeling I will be referring back to your wedding posts a lot if I ever get married.

Thank you for sharing! I was just planning on spending way too much on place cards from the same vendor who is doing our invitations. I didn’t know Paper Source had place cards for so cheap. Our colors are yellow and gray so it works out perfectly. Where did you buy the tape?

I stumbled across your blog via A Beautiful Mess and started reading your wedding posts (I’m getting married in May, yikes!).
I am having a plated dinner as well and the caterer asked for a way to delineate who gets what. I love this idea! My only question is – when sending out your invitations, how did you know who got what entree? For example, one invitation to Uncle Joe and Suzy, Joe got fish, Suzy got chicken…any suggestions would be helpful!
    Thanks!

Bethany–You may have got this figured out by now, but the manager of the restaurant we are using for our reception said to just decide who was having which dish (I suppose she meant for a couple), and they could just switch if you are wrong! I ended up using weddingwire.com for my RSVPs, so it has each person select which entree they are having. Very helpful!
