So I built a globe.

Which really wasn't the plan, but after dropping Paul off yesterday it seemed like a good idea. I felt like thinking of the world as small.

In general, I am not a big fan of wandering. I take pride in knowing the shortest distance from A to B. I like having a plan, a mission and a place to go. But for the next 15 years the plan is just to wander with Paul. We're going to be moving often and with little say over where we're going. In each town Paul will have a military doctor job and I will have an opportunity to try something new.

And I'm glad. This last move, this wander across the country was the best thing I ever did.

And so, I took a balloon, some maps, some flour and water and built a globe to wander.

If it helps at all, for the most part, you can kind of plan your wandering a little bit. At least once he’s out of training and has more of a say. At least in the Navy, anyway.
Love the globe. I’m a sucker for a pretty map. I want to do a framed map collection behind the couch of where we’re from and where we’ve lived (Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Chicago, DC, Wilmington, NC) and add to it as we move to new places.

Love your interpretation of wander. You won’t know where you’ll be in next 15 years, but I’m sure you’re glad your adventures will be with the one person you love `=O)

    I love it Elise!
And I love that there is no adventure without wandering anyways. You are guaranteed an amazing life story. And in the end – that’s all we are anyways. LOVE it. You are awesome.

Elise, I love the ‘wander’ part of our military life. It is my guarantee that life will indeed be an adventure with the person I love. I can promise that it won’t always be easy, but it surely will be interesting.
Hopefully, I can add something to the flickr group–I am slowly coming out of my wisdom tooth extraction fog.
Here’s to an inspiring week, xoxo, Sara

    So cool.
The feeling of ‘not knowing’ has to be amazing. I would love that feeling and experience.
Plus, you get to be with who you want to be with.

I love your globe. I’m actually a big fan of wandering. It suits me. Which is really odd because I don’t do change well, but I do love wandering. Weird, huh? I know. I’m aware. Your globe is totally inspiring, though. I want to make one.
