enJOY it

IMG_2611 I dropped Paul off at the airport yesterday. Tucked in his suitcase is a bundle of ten cards to be opened on set days. Little bits of encouragement and love until I see him again in San Diego in late September. You know, in case the phone, email and video chat isn't enough togetherness.

Miss you already Paul.

What a sweet way to send your love on the road !
(and well, as for me, when physically absent, there is no such thing as too much togetherness. Nope.)

this is such a great idea elise.
and i know it will mean the world to paul.
i went to honduras for 2 weeks when i was fourteen (without my family) and my parents + people from church sent cards with me to open everyday. it made me feel so close to them, and some days it was the only thing that got me through.
i’m sure it will be the same for him.

That’s such a lovely gift and thoughtful idea, Elise. I bet Paul will love them. They’re already treasured keepsakes. I love how you bundled them together.

What a lovely idea, I am sure he will much appreciate your thought and sentiment opening those on the different days. I feel for you being a part. My husband left today for Africa and I hate him being away, little things like those, Skype, email and the phone, keep you going though.

That is such a fun idea! It would be great to also do something similar for someone who’s going through a rough time.

I did something similar for my husband when he set out to build our lodge in Panama as communication was sketchy. It helped him to get a little love note – I am sure Paul will as well.

Can’t wait to use this idea. Not that I’m looking forward to my husband leaving on a trip or anything. . .

I love this idea. I did it for my ex, but it backfired since he dumped me before we had a chance to actually follow through with it. But you inspired me to do it when I go see my boyfriend next month.

Your post brought back memories of when I filled an ammo can full of letters for M when he went to bud/s. He still has it (plus all the ones I wrote) all these years later. 🙂 Letters rock.

It’s a fantastic idea and I do it for my son when he spends a week with my parents during the summer. I also like to tuck little notes here and there for my boyfriend as well.

What a great idea! My boyfriend will be traveling for 5(!) weeks next summer (summer here in Europe (and US) not in Africa.) He’s going to South-Africa to watch a few soccergames. Booh!
So I think I’m gonna suprise him with that cute idea!
    Love it!

my boyfriend is from IRL but currently lives in my city.. but he went home for a few weeks last xmas to see his family.. So i made him an envelope for each day we were apart– the envelopes were labeled, ie: “On the twelfth day of XMAS, your true love gave to you.. ” & had the date on each so he knew when to open them.. etc. so everyday we were apart he had an envelope to open.. the envelopes either held pic of us, notes, or some little small presents.. was SO fun to make 🙂 & he LOVED it.
