Promonaug3 Promonaug32 A few weeks ago, I bought a PLAY minikit from Jamaica. (it looks like they're sold out now.) I had it shipped to California and I played with it while I was home. I loved the fun small size that it came in, but I decided to use the pieces as part of a larger book based on the idea of PLAY.

I cut 12×12 papers in half (6×12) and folded them to make a 6×6 book. I stapled them together on the crease to hold it all together.
IMG_2133 I slid a ribbon between the staples and backed a photo with paper to keep it in place.
IMG_2134 IMG_2135 IMG_2136 A vellum envelope, left over from a mixed paper book holds a secret note to Paul.
IMG_2137 IMG_2138 IMG_2139 IMG_2140 I am sort of obsessed with lined paper for storytelling.

This is a very cute project. I’m working on something similar but I don’t have all the necessaries to get it finished how I want just yet. Thanks for more inspiration.

I am dying to get some of that bicycle paper! Any idea where I could find it?

How do you staple the spine? Do you have a long stapler? This is awesome and i love the cover with the cut-out frame 🙂

    hi Jojo,
I turn the book upside down, open up the stapler, and staple it into the carpet. Then I turn it over and manually fold down the staple points … I will have to take a few photos of the process. 🙂

I like the ribbon hinge idea. Easy to sandwich it between the photo and paper or between two photos. Thanks as always for the inspiration.

I have to write on lined paper as well. I tend to slant hehe. Gorgeous project!
On a side note, I was in DC seeing my sister at the Kirov Ballet Academy. What a fun place to be living by : )

Every time I see one of your mini-books, I’m inspired. I’ve started to assemble a few myself but haven’t filled them yet. I also used your tutorial that was featured on Ali’s blog with 2 girls (ages 10 and 12) and they loved it! I forgot to take pictures though…
I don’t comment often but I absolutely love your blog. It’s on my top 5 to visit daily! So thanks for all the inspiration.
    Cheers,
    Sophie
