I wanted to share what I have started to make with my new art journal kit. I have decided to use it as a little photo journal for Paul and I this summer. I loved in UP when Ellie thanked Carl for the adventure. Eighty years from now, I will say the same to Paul.
Just one photo in there for now. We have started taking walks at night and on Tuesday I set my camera on the curb, started the timer and ran. Which would have been fine once. But we did it five times. Paul's middle name is "Good Sport."
I glued my map pages back to back to get map on each side. And I trimmed around the red frames. Soon they will hold photos and journaling.
I stitched the book together with the string from the packaging. I used a regular sewing needled to poke through all the pages and stitched in and out along the fold. I tied it off with a small knot.
The crosshatch pattern on the red paper makes perfect frames. I will be adding photos in the boxes as we take them.
So that's my take. I'm excited to get more photos of THE TWO OF US so I can add more embellishments and adventures to this little book.
enJOY it

LOVE this idea, Elise!
But it brings right to the forefront of my brain my biggest problem:
I would LOVE to spend some time creating these little mini books, but I keep banging my head against this problem – I don’t necessarily ever have pictures the right size to fit in the frames, or that work on a page, or whatever.
I guess, as you mentioned, I could take 4 or 5 shots and plan them, but I never have that kind of time. Perhaps just 1 and hope for the best? I’d love to create something like this for our anniversary cruise (we leave on the 19th) – something special just for “us,” separate from our vacation scrapbook, you know?
Any suggestions? Advice?LikeLike

Awesome project.. as usual. 😉 I cannot believe you have such an old map. What a great way to use it. (The Czech info gave it away–dates the map back before 1993)

Hah! My husband would have rolled his eyes (and told me NOT to put the camera on the ground and walk away from it). What is the point of having a camera if you can’t USE it?
Walking is great! I’m much more a walker than a runner. We used to walk every day – at least a couple miles (always at night in the summer – AZ heat is evil).LikeLike

I love this. It’s so cute. You must just have like piles of stuff to make scrapbooks with lying around…
