enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

I could not fall asleep last night. No matter what. I even tried my new game of saying goodnight to every part of my body. Usually, this works and I conk out while naming stomach organs. (Not that I know all the organs, it is sort of like, "Good night spleen. Good night appendix. Good night bellybutton.") But last night I got all the way from my pinkie toes to my split ends and I was still Awake. With a capital A. Not so excellent.

Cool internet love:

+ veronica's fantastic family is on Tara's blog. M, D & Ro, we should get family photos taken.

+ this tabletop is tremendous.

+ I love Cathy Z's new Design Do-overs feature.

+ this is old, but cool free fonts. I love the numbers.

Have a happy, wide-awake, Wednesday.

I frequently have sleeping problems. I usually get up and write in my journal until I can feel my body relax. If I am super sleepy, but really wound up, I will even scribble scribble scribble til my shoulders drop. You’ve got too much going on in your mind.

I’m sorry that you didn’t sleep well…I just got an email from Real Simple concerning not sleeping well, and I thought of you. Let me know if you’d like me to pass it on.
*Here’s to a better night tonight!

    So sorry you couldn’t sleep.
I’m a troubled sleeper too, and sometimes just need a way to put my mind on pause. I’ve tried many…many, many :)…things, and depending on the day, two seem to do the trick.
One is just watching some old episodes of sitcoms I enjoy (I’ll go right to Sex and the City and/or Friends…I wonder how I’m not sick of them yet !). I already know the plot so no concentration needed, and I just go with the flow of the images on the screen. It tends to stop my mind from rambling.
The second one I really love : I stay in bed and make a list in my bed of all the good things that happened that day. Everything single thing. Pretty relaxing, and tends to put a smile on my sleepy face. I usually don’t go as far as the first half of the day.
    waow, that was a long comment…sorry 😉
Hope you get some sleep today (tomorrow ?)

i appreciate the lack of capital letters in my name.
even if it wasn’t on purpose, i am going to pretend it was.

I love your links today! Those pictures of your friend make me want to a) be a photographer or b) go on a cool photoshoot like that with my family or get engaged and have one with my boyfriend, lol. Also, I saw Veronica’s TOM’S shoes and remembered that I wanted some, so I bought them in honor of tax day. So, thanks for that! Free fonts are always an amazing resource, thanks for sharing. Have you been to http://www.dafont.com? It’s the best.
Anyway, I’ll hope for some winks for you tonight. Have a great day!

oh thats a good one!! i usually say the alphabet over and over without moving. and if i move i lose, which means nothing other than the fact ppl dont like to lose. if that doesnt work i try the alphabet forwards and backwards, and i do not know how to do it backwards…which leads to sleeping out of frustation!

I’ve had a lot of those nights lately. And it has nothing to do with the baby, who is, lucky for me, usually a pretty good sleeper (um, at night, not at nap times).
Ah, there’s nothing like getting to bed to just lay there for hours on end. Have you tried yoga? There are some nice, calming poses that are good for pre-bedtime.
