results part one.

I went and got x-rays taken this morning and lucked out by finding a fantastic dentist out here on the East Coast. Hooray! Don't get me wrong, I cried like a nutcase in the waiting room before I even sat down in the chair – but I left fairly dry-eyed.

But the good news is that I do have good bone and good teeth in my mouth. And the bad news is that the teeth are in fact moving. While the ostrich in me wants to stick my head in the sand, I believe the fantastic dentist and agree that at my age it is much better to treat and beat this mess.

So now the looming question is braces or retainer. I would go Invisaline but DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THAT COSTS? SERIOUSLY? I could buy a new head and a nice flat screen for that price. I will see an orthodontist soon and find out what the new plan will be.

Overall : good day. No more fake teeth. Knock on porcelain.

    hi Elise– I enjoy your blog so much! I do have Invisalign ( I have about 6-8 more weeks left out of a year total) and it was about $4000, but my insurance covered $1000. It has been so much better than I could have ever thought!!! Best of luck to you!!!!

    hi elise. i think this is the first time i’ve posted on your blog, but i enjoy reading it.
    i just wanted to say that i feel your pain. i had braces in jr. high school to fix my situation, which involved missing permanent molars. well my wisdom teeth are now growing in as planned to fill in the extra space. but they are growing in crooked, which means more braces. i have no other options. ack. so pretty soon you can add me to the list of 23 year old, college graduates with BRACES. ugh.
    ah well. it could always be worse, right? :]

    i had braces in my twenties. turned out not so bad … i believe it’s more common than you might think. you’re a star. you’ll be fine:)

    Hey Girl, I have been putting off getting my wisdom teeth yanked out of my head for 11 years. Not that I am afraid of the dentist, but the recovery! Maybe we could hide in a dark whole together, and noone will notice are smiles.. Hugs, M

    when i heard i had to get braces [full, metal braces] at the age of 25, i though i was going to run and hide in a closet and not come out for two years. i won’t lie…they hurt a bit, i don’t smile the same [i think i try to hide them!], and i lost 30 pounds in less than 3 months b/c i couldn’t eat properly, but i am really, REALLY hoping that it is all going to be worth it in the end. i have a really good orthodontist whom i trust [what else can you do?], so i am just going with the flow. my bf and i joke that we won’t be getting married for at least two years now, b/c i sure as hell won’t have braces in my wedding photos!! hehe! but as i move on w/ my life, i think i could actually get over it.
    you’ll make the best decision for you and life will move on.
    it always does.

    Braces aren’t that big of a deal– I got them again after you graduated. Though only on my bottom teeth– who cares. Get it done now, take care of them. After you get them off (should you need them) have them put a permanent retainer in so that there is no more movement- that’s what I have now on the bottom. Your smile will thank you 😀

    Yeah girl! My teeth moved when my wisdom teeth came in (yes, I still have them and I will be 30 this year). And I hated it and I got cativites in them… thankfully they seemed to have stopped moving, but if they continue it… I will be in your boat. Guess I am just trying to say I can relate somewhat.

    I always wanted braces when I was a kid. It wasn’t equally as cool when I actually had them, but I was in grade school/junior high and every ounce of me was akward anyways. I think the kinds of braces where the little brackets on your teeth are clear are really really cool. Anyways, braces really are ok.

    I just got my braces removed at the tender age of thirty ( second time around – wear your retainer kiddies !).
    Like some of the other have said it is pretty common now days, and I wasn’t even the oldest ” kid ” in the waiting room.

    I love how positive you are and how funny you can be at the same time. Braces are not bad at all. I think its a great thing to prevent things from worsening.
