enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

I am going to share over the next few days some of my older scrapbook albums. I never really go back and look at my albums so doing so is a treat for me too.

This album I am sharing today chronicles my first year of college (fall 2003-summer 2004) and is filled with pages scrapped while I was home for Christmas break and summer vacation. In college, I was already coming out of my "event" scrapbooking days and tended to just scrap photos that I liked. Photos that I could pair with patterns that I loved. During this time, I was very influenced by twopeasinabucket.com – specifically the work of Ali and other Garden Girls. I subscribed to Creating Keepsakes and nearly every page I created I submitted for publication – None of which were published. During this "era" I purchased materials almost exclusively at a local scrapbooking store.

IMG_0779 I am happy to see that I dated nearly every page. Common threads are bright colors, pattern, clean lines, Making Memories embellishments, ribbon and squares.

I would love to incorporate more details into my current pages the way I used to. I love the look of the "Rio Grad" page and how good a variety of patterned papers can look. It would also would be fantastic to bring back lots of journaling.

I like the USC page…I think that you could submit to USC to use on some type of freshman recruitment packet that they send to possible students!

i like to look back at scrapbooks and see what things i’d like to incorporate into my current scrapping, too. i used to use a lot of memorabilia – ticket stubs, programs, etc. i’d like to start doing that again. love this look at your old pages!

    Oh wow!
So awesome to see your older pages! It is so easy to see from these pages that you have such a natural talent for creative things (and paper-y things!)
Seeing these older pages reminds me of looking back through my visual art diarys over the last few years- it’s fun to see how your style and ideas change.
To be honest your pages make me wish i had taken more photos and stuff when i was in my later school years.
And i must say- (even as an Aussie) I am so happy that Obama won! We had quite extensive coverage of it here on tv, and while i really don’t have much idea of how your political system works over there- i still spent a good deal of time glued to the tv.
And also i will let you in on a little secret, as patriotic of an Aussie as i am- when i listened to Obama’s acceptance speech, i cried! (shame) LoL. What an eloquent, articulate and poigniant speech it was. Most certainly one for the history books!
And what a lovely change from the last 8 (?) years, to hear a speech from the president of the usa- with no stutters, no mixed up metaphors, no stupid smirks or insensitive comments.
I think that man will do great things.

Maybe this is too personal, but have you scrapbooked about Paul? When did he arrive in your life and what is your love story with him?
Just wondering. Thanks for sharing the layouts!
