enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

I am in the market for some shoes. Dressy flats, causal flats and boots. All of them. Any of them. I will truly buy every single pair that both look hot and do not hurt my feet. I can make this grand statement because I believe there are approximately three or four pairs that will fit this criteria.

I spend all day on my feet. And not just standing around but walking and getting on step ladders and running upstairs. I wake up in the mornings and my feet ache. I need to do something about this. PLUS it is about to become winter which means I also need some sort of warmth. Last year I skated by with just a few pairs of flats. And by skated I mean I actually skated and slipped along the ice. This winter, I would love to look more poised than last year as I wander outside.

(Although I doubt if I wear that jacket again people will care about my feet.)

Any thoughts? Links? Jokes? Send them over.

Make sure there is a good bit of an arch support in those shoes!

I bought these from Target and I really like them. I wear them with trouser socks because the first day I wore them without and there was so rubbing against my feet, but the trouser socks correct that completely. I wear them to work where I work as an office assistant, and I run around a lot with no problems. They look more dressy in person than the picture on the web. The gold on top is subtle and the black color is more rich than the picture shows.

If you want heel advice, I have loved every pair of Kenneth Cole Reaction heels I have bought. They wear wonderfully!

I really want a pair of boots this year. Seriously, if you live in a place where it gets cold and actually snows, some sweet boots are a necessity, aren’t they?
I don’t have any flats myself, but don’t these look pretty? I would love to try them on…

i have heard really wonderful things about london sole flats (http://www.londonsole.com) they are very expensive(!) so i don’t have any of myself to vouch for, but i hear they’re great for people on their feet all day. and totally hot.

I would officially like to accompany you on your search. I love all of the pairs I see at anthro + UOs but most are too expensive/uncomfortable. Sigh.
I posted links to my two boot choices on my blog, per your request. 🙂
You’ll have to let us know what you find.

Their shoes are great. I have one pair, but definitely want some more. They are canvas, but have a great sole. Plus, for every pair you purchase, they send a pair to a child in need. If you are interested, you have to buy true to size. I normally wear between a 6 1/2 and a 7. Mine are 7’s, and fit exactly right. ;]

Well along with the new shoes, get yourself some inserts (padded, gel, etc), some foot lotion for at night time and cozy socks to bundle up in at night. Also treat yourself to a pedicure or foot massage- those make all my aches go away!
I have shoe recommendations but I’m rushing off to work- it’ll be a good distraction in the office today so you’ll get ’em then 😉

Ugg Brooks boots are my favorite winter footwear b/c they are warm and waterproof (no worries about the snow) and they are COMFY but I don’t know if they are still available. I am in the market for some new winter footwear, too, so I will be keeping an eye on your comments section!

I second the dansko clogs. I love my red pair. A. You can wear them with black or brown. B. They are nice to your feet. C. they are red. One warning. They are kindof high up and I have turned my ankle a few times. But I think I’m just clumsy. I also love any shoes made by Born. They are so comfy and they have some cute maryjanes. Happy shopping!

I agree with the Privo suggestion, but make sure you break them in before wearing for many hours. I got blisters from the seams the first few times I wore mine. My favorites, though, are my plaid Rocket Dogs.
