I promise that if my interaction with Tom Hanks had been funny or entertaining in anyway you, Blogland, would have been the first to know. A better and braver blogger might have issued a witty one-liner to him like, "Life’s like a box of chocolates" while simultaneously looking demure and intoxicating. I, however, was able to do little other than shake and look at my shoes. The fact of that matter is, he was a very nice man who sounds exactly like that guy in You’ve Got Mail.
To distract you from my non-eventful brush with celebrity, I would like to talk about my plants. Yes, plants. Because right now there is very little excitement in the life of EJB. My teeth are securely in my mouth, I am at a stalemate with the DMV and Martha Stewart has not yet requested my presence on her show. Therefore, I will share Spike and Stepchild. Our plants a.k.a. practice pets a.k.a. practice children.
We got Spike first and named him after his appearance. Something that I have no intention of doing upon having my own real life children. Stepchild came second and we think this means he is jealous of Spike. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.) Paul is mostly responsible for their quality of life. He does things like water them while I say things like "No babe, they look fine to me" and "Yes, I do think it was a good idea to move them towards the window."
So yeah…that about sums them up. Spike and Stepchild are a wonderful addition to our home. And while not quite as well known as say, a famous actor, they are undoubtedly green in color.
