P(excitedly): Sooo, do you have any stories from work?
E: Yes. But you can tell yours first.
P: Today we had the first in a series of six, well, actually of four lectures because the teacher didn’t show up because…well anyway…about infant and child development and a lot of the stuff was really interesting –
E: OOOOOOOH!!! Did it make you want to have babies?*
Pause
E: It’s okay. You don’t have to say yes.
P(hesitantly): Yes. But mostly so I can study them.
*We are no where near little E and P’s as we are no where near being grownups. But it is all about baby steps.
