enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

In Minnesota, when I was around six, I had a lemonade stand that was on the corner near a house that was getting remodeled. I remember the construction guys coming over with sheets of wood for carrying away the tiny dixie cups. I made $30 and felt rich.

When I was 9, I created the "35173 Hair and Nail Salon." I taped a commercial to highlight that all of my services were only $1. And keeping with the theme, I had one customer – Mom’s fingernails.

And then, a year later, I convinced Robbie to help me open a restaurant and cook dinner for M&D. We curtained off the kitchen with a sheet for 2 days. On the menu was spaghetti. We charged them $13 and wrote on the bill "Please feel free to tip."

My most lucrative business was senior year of high school when I decorated wooden frames and sold them to other students and teachers for $10. I sold a ton and seriously considered buying stuff wholesale.

And now, after what you could call a business hiatus of sorts, I am taking the etsy plunge: elisejoy.etsy.com. Right now, there are only four items…but hey, if I can open a hair salon with only a pair of orange handled scissors, I can do this.

Congrats! What an exciting endeavor. I dig those cards and once I am employed again (ahem, yeah…) I will pick some up! xo
