Img_6675This is where I wait for the bus everyday. Last night, as I was standing here, I saw the most beautiful full orange moon. And I thought to myself, "wow."

This morning I woke up to an email from Mom that read:

Just finished a walk around the block … I noticed the moon was large and very bright, and I
thought, this is the very same moon that is shining down on Elise
tonight and every night, even though we are 3000 plus miles apart.

I told Paul about the moon and about how Mom emailed about it and as I was telling him, I started crying. "I’m sorry, I don’t know why I am crying" I said.

"It’s okay, you miss your mom," he said.

    Awe!
That street where you wait for the bus is really cool and I bet it looks even better beneath a big orange moon. Thanks for sharing it 🙂

It’s really weird how when you’re far away from those that you love that these things happen. My Mum lives in Spain and I’m in England and it happens all the time. I always have a little weep too.

You are the sweetest.. sometimes you gotta cry. I remember when my son moved across the country 3000 miles away to San Diego…
sometimes I was sad but then so so happy that he was chasing his dreams. I wonder if he ever looked at the moon and missed us ?? nahh… i dont think boys think that way – do you???

super sweet. and completely normal. what a lovely email. i love that you say, ‘i don’t know why i am crying.’ i do that all the time and then after a big bawl fest, i wipe my red cheeks and watery eyes and say, ‘it doesn’t look like i’ve been crying, does it?!’

loved your post – read it this morning and realized how fortunate I was that my daughter was only 30 (not 3,000) miles away. And found this lovely ee cummings (#78 from 95 poems): “…as not imagined secrecies comprise/goldenly huge whole the upfloating moon.” You inspired me to update the poem on my blog. Thank you. And I hope my daughter reads this…and misses me too!

The moon has been exceptionally lovely these last few nights. I always notice it and say, “la bella luna” it means the lovely/pretty moon. I got that line from Moonstruck.
I’m sorry you are sad though. I think it’s cool you both noticed it though. 🙂

I’m about 5 years late leaving a comment here, but came across this in your favorite posts. I live almost 5,000 miles from my mom – she’s in Vancouver and I’m in London. Every time I see the moon, I think about everyone at home… it always makes me feel better and more homesick all at once! x
