enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

I ride what we like to call the "Email Train" everyday. The constant stream of emails that come from my SC girls who are soon going to be spread out across the US. It is not our way of keeping in touch, but more our way of conversing. Because we emailed each other when we were just a few rooms apart. Or in the same room. Or conversing out loud.

I have been very blessed with witty friends. And along with the wit, comes a very amazing storytelling skill. Their emails constantly make me smile.

But yesterday one made me cry.

But it was weird, I did not cry while I was reading it, or after I responded to it, or anything of the sort. It made me cry last night, as I was falling asleep.

In an email chain titled: "new "woman" = new subject", which was started by Julie, Katie wrote:

I saw our little working woman [veronica] make a real life salad in her real life kitchen and wash anthropologie
dishes with a real life flower shaped scrubber… In her amazing
apartment. You guys cant wait to 1) see hers and 2) have your own.

vern has a job. And a cute apartment. And apparently some dishes I have to buy. And within a few months we are all going to have that stuff. Which means we are seriously never ever going back to live as a overly obsessed Gmail fan-club in Alpha Phi.

How can you not shed a tear over that?

You have to cry. It is the culmination of a dream, I remember weeping down the phone with a friend after my washing machine was delivered! It just seemed so grown up and the end of an era.

but it’s just the beginning of an amazing journey elise. and those friends… it won’t matter that you aren’t in the same room with one another or just down the hall. what will matter is that you stay in touch and stay connected.
    xoxo.
