enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

I have a sponge-like quality.

Not because I like the kitchen.  Or because I am soft and squishy.

But because I absorb whatever I am currently "in."  It is not like if I went to England I would pick-up an accent.  Or like I have the ability to appear cool in awkward situations.  But more like I become fascinated with ideas.  When I admire someone or their words or their actions, I try to take it all in. And then, secretly, or not so secretly, I want to do it to.

For example:

I am deep into Eat, Pray, Love.  (By far the best book I have read in 2007.  It is going to beat out Time Traveler’s Wife, and become the best book of all time, I know it.)  I have already followed the author through Italy, India, and now we are together in Bali, Indonesia.  With each section my life plan has changed.  I wanted to search for pleasure in Rome, devotion in an Ashram in India & finally find the balance between the two in Bali.

I am soaking up this book.  When I find strong quotes and ideas, my fingers trace over the words as I reread them.  Unconsciously – although now, since I noticed it, it is conscious – I am trying to get the thoughts about God and Life and Happiness into my body.

Where it can sit.  And be absorbed.

Until I am ready to squeeze it back out to the world.

YAY for Eat, Pray, Love. one of my favorite books ever…I reread and highlighted all of the inspirational passages that I hope will inspire me in my own spiritual journey. And EG is SO funny, too.

I LOVED this book…I, too went back and underlined the passages I adored. I think it’s time to go back and re-read it. Again. 🙂
