enJOY it

GradpicsYeah.  I know.  Totally cool.

Robbie is a high school graduate.  The parents are empty-nesters.  I am a short big sister.  But a proud one too.

Obviously, I cried.  Un-obviously, I cried while the jazz band played "Working at the Carwash."  And this is why:

The band gets on stage.  The announcer says, "And now the Rio Americano AM Jazz Band featuring the Class of 2006 Seniors and led by Craig Faniani."  They started to play.  And their director, Craig Faniani backed away.  He did not lead the band.  He just watched.  And I cried.  I cried because the band did not need to be led.  They knew what they were doing by themselves.  Mr. Faniani was able to stand to the side and just enjoy the music.

And that to me was graduation.  You listen, learn, read, write, work and try.  And then you grow.  And you go.  And you do it on your own.  And if you are lucky, you get to come back and watch others do the same.

Congrats, Ro.  So proud of you.  Proud to know you.
