On vacations, I think you are supposed to learn something. The Cabo girls are learning how to survive on tortilla chips and tequila shots. J is learning how to rebuild the rain forest in Costa Rica with Alternative Spring Break. There is always something to learn.
On the small scale, I learned how to navigate the Island of Manhattan. On the much larger scale, I learned that I am on track with this Target Internship. I confirmed that I want to end up in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Michelle asked me why Minneapolis. Simple answer: I have family there. Roots. I enjoy scarfs, earmuffs and boots.
But it is more that that. I can thrive in a city like Minneapolis. Not just survive, which is what I would barely be able to do in NYC or LA. It has culture and restaurants and theater and parks and museums. It is not too big. And not too small. Just right. Target’s Corporate website paints a marvelous promotional picture right here: click on Twin Cities Living.
Spent an hour on craigslist.com. Learned that I can get a delightful, one-bedroom apartment for under $1000. Cannot believe that this could be my reality in less than 10 months.
And the photo? Target Headquarters. 1000 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55403. Quality.
