We are off to ring in twenty ten in San Francisco. I am ready for a new year, a new start and the night of the sequined tiger shirt. See you next year blogland. Be safe & enjoy the celebrations today and tomorrow.

I spent some time this morning looking back through my iPhoto to remember what went on this past year. For every one "good" photo there are 35 bad ones. I am so grateful for digital cameras this morning AND so inspired to focus on improving my photo skills next year.
But here's the "best awards" of the first half of 2009.

Such a random assortment of photos, but these are what jumped out. Proof that the little things really are the big things. EDITED : The best meal? It's our weekly fave. Just nachos…but so good. We layer multi-grain tortilla chips (not so much healthy as fantastic), cooked chicken, tomatoes, red pepper, onions and a half can of drained black olives. On top of it all goes some shredded cheddar and sometimes jack or whatever else we have on hand. We always add sour cream and when avocados are on sale, homemade guacamole.

I feel like I am coming out of a strange holiday haze. Sadly, I'm still jet-lagged. I can't wait to live on the same coast as the extended families. We had Paul's fam over for Christmas Eve and then celebrated very quietly at home on Christmas Day. In the evening, we went and saw Sherlock Holmes. I recently realized I am a little bit in love with Robert Downey Jr. and the movie did not disappoint.
Then yesterday, Mom, Dad, the bro and I drove over to San Francisco to watch USC play Boston College in the Emerald Bowl. College football, I adore. Rain, wind and cold – not so much. Braving the elements was worth it though to see the win. Hoping for a better season next year.Per usual, I am spending this week thinking about next year. My new year's resolution is to use my gocco machine. That's it. Nice and simple. The other items on my mind so much wishes or plans for the new year as they are must dos. I will get married. I will move across the county. I will work harder to legitimize my crafting hobby. I will learn to be a wife. I will find a new part time job to keep things interesting. I will make new friends. I will keep in touch the old. I will continue to blog in this space. I will continue to make stuff. I will continue to go to the gym. I will maintain this "happy weight." I will resist the urge to get a pet. I will save money. I will do my best.
(I will be blogging throughout the week and then sharing my completed holiday album next Monday when we are back in Maryland. The thoughts and words have been added, but I need to be re-united with my printer to get the photos and finish it all up. I really enjoyed the holiday book process this year.)

Christmas Eve is the big one in our house. All of our traditions, all of our anticipation and so many of my favorite memories are wrapped up in this day. After 24 years of celebrations, I remember giggling with Robbie in church, racing lobsters, wearing fancy dresses and velvet hair bows above and beyond any gift I opened from Santa (and later Mom and Dad). Oh how I love Christmas Eve.
No matter when and what you celebrate, I wish you peace and joy. Thank you for your kind thoughts and comments throughout the last year. -
I had no inspiration for holiday cards this year until a box of neon yellow translucent envelopes arrived at the store. "BRIGHT" I thought and the cards were born.I designed the text in PSE (font is Pharmacy) and printed at home on light gray cardstock. Because my printer will not do borderless printing, I trimmed them after to fit inside the envelope. I left the dot off the "i" and used a star stamp with silver embossing powder to add something besides text to the card.
We hand wrote a note and our names at the bottom and off they went towards the unsuspecting eyeballs of the mailman.
Be merry. Be bright. Happy Christmas.

We are staying in a cabin/house in Sea Ranch, California. It's supposed to rain for the next three days which means we are going to watch a lot of Dexter on DVD and play many games of pinochle. We might sneak out to go for a run or visit tide pools. Or we might just keep sleeping in and playing with our iPhones. Hopefully all four.
It's so funny that we waited three years to jump on this bandwagon and now we can't get over the "new" technology.
