We planted a little window sill garden of mint, basil and rosemary. Ideally, this means we'll get to use fresh ingredients for our mojitos, salads and whatever it is you use rosemary in. This also means I get to cross off number five on my list.
herbs from Lowe's & white pots from Ikea.

My parents drove down from Sacramento on Saturday with a U-HAUL full of wedding gifts and other fun things we were storing until we found a place. We spent Sunday clearing out boxes and setting up shop. And going crazy with projects. At one point, my mom was sewing curtains, I was recovering chairs, my dad was building shelving and Paul was cooking dinner.
It was a great day. The apartment is looking rad, I learned how to use my new sewing machine and Paul finally understands why I often shout "Let's just DIY it!" It's in my blood.
I hope to have the apartment ready for a full photo tour in a week or so. There are still so many projects I want to take on (making posters, sewing a duvet cover, trying to make these) but the details are coming together!
Have a safe and happy Memorial Day and because Stephanie says it so much better : please read this.

They secured a San Diego apartment in a walkable
neighborhood. This is good. She has never really lived in a walkable
neighborhood. He has, but it's been awhile. She ordered a custom address stamp five hours after they signed a lease.
He set up the internet/TV in record time.
(Priorities.)
She's loving the fresh start that comes with a new place but really wishes there was a magic button which would remove the tons of cardboard from the apartment.
They bought some herbs and set up a little window garden. They are sort of obsessed with these plants.
He doesn't have to report to work for one and a half weeks.
They are loving the extra time together. And by extra time she of course means all day, every day. And therefore, she isn't really reporting to work for one and a half weeks.
They've been married for a month. And so far it's been very good with
some bad. (Like when they spent two weeks apart.)Next week, they'll tackle their greatest married challenge so far : the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

We already own a cream couch, a black TV and some simple light wood end tables. Most of the frames I already have are black and I just recently collected a few silver ones. You'd think I'd be hurting for a little color, but instead I'm totally drawn to the white and black Ikea rug. And then the chair that Paul thinks would be perfect for video game playing looks pretty rad in black. So I think we may just end up with a black and cream and gold and white living/tv room. And I'm pretty excited about it.

We have been enjoying a lot of meals out over the past couple weeks as we waited to find a place and then be reunited with our pots and pans. Last night was our first home cooked meal in a long time and we've made a pact of no meals out (unless guests are in town) for the next month. I'm looking forward to it. I think we need a healthy food recharge.
But I have to share our favorite place to eat breakfast on Coronado : Bino's. We highly recommend if you're ever in town.

On Sunday, while our apartment was still empty and Paul's best friend was in town, we drove up to LA to go to Disneyland. It's awesome that we're back in driving distance from Disney. It was a surprisingly uncrowded day at the park and I think we rode every ride. Which we should of, as we were there for 15 hours.Yesterday, our movers brought so. many. boxes. to our new place. We can't get over how much stuff we have. Which is crazy because I did a lot of purging back in Maryland. Sometimes, it takes a new place to realize what you don't absolutely love should be given away. We are working on unpacking and setting up today. And then we'll be working on getting a few more items to make this space ours. I am trying to stick to the rule that if it's not exactly perfect for us right now, it's not worth it.
So far so good.
I cannot wait to be back to a regular schedule and out of these boxes.

Thank you for your sweet words on our wedding photos for the past few days. I loved seeing the pictures and I'm glad I got my memories of the day down "on paper." I think I will be making a book through Blurb of our photos. I hope to get that started in early June.
I can't thank Lisa and Geoff enough. They are such great people and photographers. Take a look at Lisa's post about the wedding.

Today we are moving in to our new apartment! We signed a lease on a great place on Thursday. Our stuff from Maryland arrives on Monday so we are going to camp out on the carpet for the next few days. I'll be sharing photos as we start getting settled.
I'm totally excited about it. And I'm so excited about the neighborhood we'll be living in.
Good stuff. Happy weekend!

I always thought I wasn’t going to be able to enjoy the reception as much as I wanted. I figured I would be busy. I’d be mingling. I wouldn’t have time to dance. That was the dumbest thing I have ever thought.I had a blast at my wedding.
The greatest time ever. And Paul danced so much. We are both pretty bad dancers, but our obsession with each other sort of made up for it.
I have never been to a wedding with so much dancing. But that makes sense, I have never been to a wedding with so many young people. There were about 65 people between 25 and 33 at our party. That’s enough to fill three dance floors and we only had one small one.
And our DJ. Oh man, he was so cool. He kept us all going without gimmicks or games or DJ chatter. Just great music and a good attitude.
And our friends are so cool. I can’t wait to marry them all off with huge parties.
And that's the end.
We met. And about 12 years later we fell in love. We threw a big party to celebrate our love. We hope to stay together and keep celebrating forever.all photography by Lisa Welge

Our dinner was on a terrace on the seventh floor of The Citizen Hotel. The weather was lovely so the windows were open and we had a pretty great view of the state capital.
We sat at our own table in front of the dance floor. I loved that we had a chance to talk just us. I also loved that our friends got to sit with their groups of extended friends as well as their dates.
To kick off the night, while people were eating their salads, we received toasts from Kristen and Steve our maid of honor and best man. Both were so sweet and made us blush. I wish I had them on video.
While the guests ate dinner, we made our rounds to most of the tables to say hi and thank people for coming.
Then we quickly ate dinner. I remember being too excited to eat.
Robbie, my brother, put together a sweet slide show of E&P growing up. It quickly turned into "who's friends can be louder when a photo of USC or Cal comes on the screen?"
We played the coolest “who knows each other better” game hosted by my aunts from Minnesota.
Paul and I sat back to back and answered questions like “who’s smarter?” “who’s a better kisser?” “Who’s more organized?” We each held up signs I had made and tried to get the same answers.
We did except for one.
We broke a cupcake in half and fed it to each other. No smashing. No mess. Just eat. Our cupcakes were from Ettore’s and though I only tried half of one, I heard rave reviews.
And then there were the dances.
P and I just sort of drifted in circles; we never took lessons like we hoped.
But my dad is sort of a dance pro and we twisted and turned to Frank Sinatra.
And then P and his mom.And finally, the floor was opened up to everyone.
to be continued…and it's the final wedding post, I promise…
