Sometimes (almost always) the simplest projects are my favorite ones. When I bought this frame for Ellerie’s Santa photos, I bought a second one thinking I’d “need” it for something. It sat in my garage for over a year. In February, as part of my “I must clean out every inch of this house” madness, I decided to put it to use.

There are 16 holes and I am going to fill them with a 4×4 black and white photo of Ellerie every year for the next 14. I took these two photos with my iPhone on December 31, 2013 and December 31, 2014. From now on I’ll be shooting for the end of each year (though I am not picky about the date). I love it’s small and understated (no 8x10s or mats needed) but it’s still a great record. I love the black and white (accomplished with the Afterlight and VSCO apps) too.

(Fake) mug shots for the win. GROWTH for the win.

I love this idea so much. It reminds me of the movie “Boyhood” (not that I’ve seen it yet).

When it comes to memorykeeping (and pretty much everything, really) I follow advice from none other than the dreamy Don Draper, “Make it simple but significant.”
Incremental black & white head shots of your baby girl rock that advice to its core.

    Such a wonderful idea!
My parents used to have my brother’s and my school portraits all up on the wall, kindergarden through 5th grade (laser beams in a couple!) One time a realtor was over and remarked “are those all your children?” Haha! The nice compact frame will make it crystal clear it is one child over the years. 🙂

This is so awesome! It reminds me of the viral video from a few years ago where the dad filmed the daughter growing up. This seems almost as cool, but with way less work. My kind of project, haha!

This is such a beautiful idea! I hope that in 14 years you are still blogging (so that we can all see the final product) and we are all still reading your blog and keeping you in business.

Don’t let her see it and give it to her on her 16th birthday! I just gave my son a mini time capsule in his 16th and he loved it. It might be harder to hide… But I bet she’d love it.

My parents did this every year with us from kindergarten to grade 12 and put our school photos in it. It was such a mixed feeling to finally see that last little frame get its photo!
