For my next MAKE&GIVE30 project, I am using yarn again! This is actually the first project I created but the excitement over the first four go in the way. I'm realizing though that I've got to get these knit projects out of the way quick while we are still technically in winter. 😉
I was excited to use up some beautiful yarn that I've had stashed for almost a year! I bought it while I was up in Oregon and originally used it to crochet the world's ugliest cowl. It only made sense that I would give it another life as a knit cowl.
I decided to knit with two strands at once and I am in love with the tight and thick knit that it resulted in, not to mention the pretty way the colors blended. This is just knit stitch over and over. I cast on just 62 stitches and then knit in the round for 60 rows. I used size 10 circular needles that were 18 inches long.
The result is a very small (tight) and cozy knit cowl. It's so soft and warm! I hope it goes to someone in a chilly climate who will get a ton of use out of it…hopefully NEXT winter because spring is coming, right?!

My favorite colour combination at the moment is dark green, light peach, blue and gray. And where I live, we just got 59 centimeters (23″) of snow in a big storm, so I would still get use out of this!!

I love anything with orange right now! It’s not a color that looks great on me personally, so I find that I want it on everything else … especially with different shades of brown/tan/white. : )

Winter is hanging on in northern Michigan, so I guess I’d have to say I’m dreaming of Spring colors—lilac and soft pink cherry blossoms, light greens and yellows of new growth, tan and cream pussy willows. Sigh. I can’t wait. What a lovely cowl, by the way. I do so admire anyone that can knit or crochet. 🙂

Since I am learning to sail this summer I am all about blues. Although we are learning on the Great Lakes, the end game is to sail to Cuba for a mojito and a sandwich. Cause they just call them sandwiches there, not Cubans. That awesome cowl would work wonderfully on a boat. Small, keeps that big lake morning chill away… yes. Thank you.
