scrap yarn knit blanket

Last year, while I was knitting my 29 blankets, I knitted one extra (I think it was number 19). I didn't have enough of two yarns colors at the house and I was wanting to knit so I just started adding scrap yarn together. Of course, then I ran out of scrap yarn and had to go buy more to actually finish this blanket.

Originally, I thought I'd sell it as one of the 29 but then realized that would be so random. 28 striped blankets and then this one! This random one! #odd.

So I kept it aside and powered through the remaining blankets. And then sold them in November.

This one is still special to me though. I love the look. I love the warm color palette. I love the crazy changing yarns.

Like all the blankets, this was knit with simple back-and-forth garter stitch on size 15 needles. (I did 60 stitches per row if you want to make your own.)

Love it! I’ve been following you since 2010ish. I discovered you through Stephanie Howell’s blog. My favorite posts in 2014 were your small business story posts. I love hearing all the behind the scenes nitty-gritty. I struck out with so many of the make29 pieces and was so thankful for the digital option for January. Love marking off my days of goal met!

Oh! I love this blanket! The randomness gives it so much personality. Ive been reading for a few years, at least since you designed the Project Life kit. My favorite post is so hard to pick, its whichever craft project Im currently working on and referring back to at the moment. Like the cowl or the many great PL layouts, but the business posts tend to really get me thinking the most. I would say my top favorite right now is probably where you shared your Action Book pages, I loved seeing how you broke everything down and just got your thoughts on paper and then organized from those.

    Hi Elise!
I’ve been reading your blog since around 2009. My boss introduced me to it because I was planning my wedding around the same time you were! It’s been fun to see how life has evolved since that time. The blanket is beautiful. My favorite posts are the ones that involve some type of DIY project.

I stumbled across your blog shortly before little e was born (she’s just a few weeks after my 2nd tiny human), and have been visiting daily ever since! Definitely my fav post of 2014 was the small business story series – I love hearing how each person’s wandering path has gotten them to where they are now 🙂

I’ve been reading for over two years now, and I absolutely love your style. I can’t pick a favorite post from 2014, but I loved reading about the Make29 project, especially the blankets. Those take dedication, which I know from experience, so I admire your desire to make and sell those. Looking forward to your projects from 2015!

I started reading in April 2014. My favorite posts are any of the gardening posts. I’ve struggled with my patio garden this year (thanks Florida weather), and seeing yours always inspired me to keep on going. Now I’m harvesting tomatoes and swiss chard every week.

I am not sure how long I have been reading now… I think I found your blog around the time that you designed the Project Life kit, but have been an avid reader (and fan) ever since! 🙂 I have to say my favorite posts are your letters to Ellerie. There were some that made me sniffle. 🙂 Whoever wins the blanket will be very lucky – that’s super cool!

I have been reading your blog since 2011 — do you remember when EVERYONE had a part of their blog that said “hey, go check out so-and-so’s blog”? Well, that’s how I found you.
My favorite post(s) from 2014 were the capsule updates as well as anything involving lists (goals, etc). I liked following your capsule updates because I feel like my capsule would look pretty similar to yours – nice and easy.
    Happy New Year!

I have been reading for about two years now I believe and I definitely look forward to practically all of your posts but the one called, “22 year old Elise, this is for you” was by far my favorite. I found it so interesting what things you thought to tell yourself and then I found myself journaling about the same thing later that day. Thanks for always getting my creative juices flowing! I would love this blanket so much!

Hi Elise! That blanket is awesome! Love the color pallet. I have been reading your blog for about 3 years now and it has been pretty life changing (cue the cheesiness). By reading your blog I have been inspired to hone in on skills and joyful hobbies I didn’t realize I had/ could do. I have realized I am more goal oriented than I ever thought, I have found a love for knitting and crocheting and have begun challenging myself creatively in general. In many ways you and your blog has inspired me. I will definitely be a long time reader!

I found your blog back when you were planning your orange and gray wedding because I was planning an orange and gray wedding to my army soldier! We purchased our first house shortly after you purchased your house and now we are expecting our first baby this summer. My favorite post was probably the cold brewed coffee because I LOVE that coffee now (except not while pregnant….)

I’ve been reading since you were in MD, making mixed paper minibooks and planning your wedding. I found your blog after I started following your instagram. I can’t remember how long ago that was! One of your recent posts about your documentation for Ellerie’s year is a favorite of mine; I’m studying to be a Speech Language Pathologist and really liked the list of words you are keeping. Oh, I love your blankets! My favourite post of yours was this: http://eliseblaha.typepad.com/golden/2011/12/project-18-of-26-big-script-art.html.
Why? Well, last year I took a leap of faith and started my own Pilates studio from home, leaving behind the security of a paid teaching position elsewhere, and your post inspired me to make my own big script art. Putting into words what the studio (and I) stood for. It is one of my favourite crafts and looks perfect in my studio, so thank you:-)

The first memory I have of finding your blog was BE, before Ellerie, when you were posting about projects for your home and scrapbooking your days when your husband was away. I was blown away by your sunny view of life and crazy cool style. Wasn’t there a series about pizzas back then? Thanks for being brave and branching out to create this amazing blog. You make a difference in my life and so many others.
