scrap yarn knit blanket

Last year, while I was knitting my 29 blankets, I knitted one extra (I think it was number 19). I didn't have enough of two yarns colors at the house and I was wanting to knit so I just started adding scrap yarn together. Of course, then I ran out of scrap yarn and had to go buy more to actually finish this blanket.

Originally, I thought I'd sell it as one of the 29 but then realized that would be so random. 28 striped blankets and then this one! This random one! #odd.

So I kept it aside and powered through the remaining blankets. And then sold them in November.

This one is still special to me though. I love the look. I love the warm color palette. I love the crazy changing yarns.

Like all the blankets, this was knit with simple back-and-forth garter stitch on size 15 needles. (I did 60 stitches per row if you want to make your own.)

Hi Elise! I think I’ve been reading your blog for at least 3 years. I love your blog, its the perfect mix of posts. I love the posts about small business, motivation & organization, your post about that big thrift store frame inspired me to go find my own big inexpensive frame last year. Happy 2015!!!

To me that final paragraph “I’m going to give this away to a reader” was like the best unexpected twist in a short story I was innocently enjoying. I didn’t see it coming… nor did I anticipate the “US & International” part either. Amazing! Three cheers for Elise!! (And what a pretty blanket too!) x

That is beautiful. I have been reading your blog for years now! Probably from around the time you and Paul got married. I have loved reading about your PL process, the stories behind each of the Make29 products and especially your business story. Keep doing what you’re doing. It’s so inspiring! Abi

So generous of you – I love the blanket! I can’t remember how long I’ve been reading your blog . . . probably three or four years now. I have loved MAKE29 and look forward to each month’s big reveal. 🙂 My favorite posts have been about lists/goals, because I’m such a list person, and I can’t wait to hear more about the Get to Work Book.

How fun! I don’t know if I can choose just one from the whole year… but I so enjoyed reading your Dear Ellerie letters, especially the ‘year one’ letter. It’s been amazing as a not-yet-mom to see the raw real process of becoming a parent.
And I was trying to think of how long its been. It’s been at least 5 years.. Pre-wedding for sure!

I started reading right after you got married, so it’s been a while! My favorite posts are the E and E posts. This blanket is great, and I love that is a smattering of all the other ones and is such a physical example of the way you enjoy working.

Oops, I’m a reader of 4+ years (think I started reading just after you and Paul got married) and my favourite post of yours from last year was the one about how you schedule your daily tasks. As someone who I think is super-productive, consistently (which I think is the one thing I really lack), I found that very helpful and insightful.

Beautiful blanket! I’ve loved so many posts of 2014 I don’t think I could pick a single one, but I have appreciated the sense of openness and honesty that has permeated your blog, especially in the past year. I’ve been reading since 2010 when I was a freshman in college!

I’ve been reading since around the end of Paul’s first deployment – my boyfriend and I were long-distance at the time and another blog linked to one of your posts on the subject. I then read all your archives, fell in love with your old minibooks, relate to the adventures of post-college Elise, and look up to the current Elise. My favorite posts this year were probably the small business story – loved seeing the behind-the-scenes of you figuring out your career.

Good morning!! I must say that my favorite posts have been all of your different coffee posts. The cold brewer (which I purchased after you posted and I love it) and the in-depth chemex “tutorial.” I too am a coffee lover, and I pretend to be crafty so I love your blog in general, but coffee is the key to my heart. I’ve been reading your blog for about 3 years and give you lots of props because it’s one of the only blogs I still read from my office days that hasn’t lost its magic. Keep it up, Elise!

I’ve been reading your blog since way back when you lived in Maryland – so 2008-ish? I remember reading your post about the DIY wreaths in the frames for Christmas that year. There was a post when you wrote about hitting 6 weeks with Ellerie was coming out of a fog, and how everything suddenly got better. At the time, I was pregnant with my 2nd. My first baby had been a breeze, and I knew I was so lucky that way but not guaranteed to have that a second time.
I didn’t. Baby #2 was colicky. And it was hard. But in the back of my mind, I kept remembering your post. One day, everything would become a little brighter and clearer. It eased up at 6 weeks a bit, but it wasn’t until 3 months that I thought, “Yes. This is what Elise was talking about. Now it’s going to get so good.”
I’ve read your blog for so long, and it’s always one of my favorites.

I’ve been following for three or four years. I can’t pinpoint a particular post as my favorite. While I initially visited your blog for the DIYs, I’ve realized that I look forward to your progress posts. Whether it be figuring out your make29 projects to your garden adventures, I appreciate the time you take to update us and in many ways, take us along on your journey of successes, failures and most times, in progress situations. So much of this mirrors real life. And as a fellow knitter, nice job on the blanket. Have yet to tackle anything with size 15 needles and am inspired to give it a try!

Im in San Diego as well and was going through both little life changing moments at relatively the same time so it just made sense to start checking in more often 🙂
Not sure I have a favorite post – always enjoy the “I’m a mama, I’m not perfect, here’s a glipse at me keeping it real,” type of posts. It’s easy to only want to share the good and the rainbows and sparkles, so it’s always nice to see the human side 🙂
