scrap yarn knit blanket

Last year, while I was knitting my 29 blankets, I knitted one extra (I think it was number 19). I didn't have enough of two yarns colors at the house and I was wanting to knit so I just started adding scrap yarn together. Of course, then I ran out of scrap yarn and had to go buy more to actually finish this blanket.

Originally, I thought I'd sell it as one of the 29 but then realized that would be so random. 28 striped blankets and then this one! This random one! #odd.

So I kept it aside and powered through the remaining blankets. And then sold them in November.

This one is still special to me though. I love the look. I love the warm color palette. I love the crazy changing yarns.

Like all the blankets, this was knit with simple back-and-forth garter stitch on size 15 needles. (I did 60 stitches per row if you want to make your own.)

Hi Elise! I’ve been reading your blog since about July 2013. I love the variety of topics you cover, but I would have to say your backyard reno was my favorite. I love how you share your creative process, plans, the finished product, and most of all — your reflections on what you liked and what you learned. Happy 2015 to you!

Thank you, Elise, for your giving nature. I have loved following your Make 29 adventure and am sad to see it coming to an end (probably because I never like happy, fun adventures to end!). Your extra scrap yarn blanket is beautiful. The person who receives this is so lucky. Well, fingers crossed! 😊🌻💛 To answer your question, I so enjoyed reading your letters to your little Ellerie Eve, but especially the one celebrating her first year in 2014. She is going to so enjoy these love letters from her kind and thoughtful momma. What a gift! And thank you for sharing yourself with us, your readers. I am inspired.

I have read your blog for about 4 years and I must say, its my favourite, because its never static or the same old thing over and over.
In 2014, I loved your weekend read posts and the E & E ones are so adorable. And thanks to you I took my PL and made it a monthly thing so I could manage it better. So much more freedom to do as little or much as I can.

Hi Elise! Wow 980 comments already!?!?! f you are not yet dizzy from scrolling; and still reading I am Kelly and one of your newer readers. I randomly discovered you after moving from San Diego (where I grew up) to Australia and started blog surfing having started my own blog to chronicle our adventures here and my crafty interests. I keep reading because you live in San Diego, like beer and pizza, have cool projects, are navigating first time motherhood, and inspire me to write more, goal-set more, and read more. I admire your ability to stay true to what you love to do and constantly challenge yourself. I loved all of your “dear ellerie” posts in 2014 because I remember each moment of being madly in love with my baby daughter and love re-experiencing that awe vicariously through your words. I still cannot believe you knitted 30 blankets but would be honored to own one! Best wishes in 2015!

Gosh I love a scrap anything. It reminds me of the OLDen days when every little bit was put to good use, and why crazy quilts are so beautiful to me too. This blanket is lovely and I’d sure love to invite it home. I’ve been reading your blog since just after you became pregnant with Ellerie and it has been inspiring to watch the depictions and images and incarnations of your life and adventures unfold. Make29 has been particularly inspiring to me as I love to craft, but could never commit to one “product” should I ever decide to make of go of selling something as a business. Well done, Elise!

Your blog was my introduction to project life and one little word both of which have been so rewarding! And I’ve loved reading your thoughts on motherhood as I’ve been at the same point of my life. If I had to pick a favourite though it might just be your awesome black and white pinwheel quilt that I loved so much I had to make myself and just basting today. I think my favorite posts this year have been about the capsule wardrobes. I am an impulse buyer and spend waaaayyyyyyyyy too much money on clothes (much that never/rarely gets worn). Thank you so much for this giveaway, I love this blanket! These are my favorite colors to paint with and work with. I have only just found you the second half of this year, met you through PL catch up class at BPS. Loved it! I am sad that I just found you and your not doing PL this year, my plan is to go back and read through your old posts.
My favorite posts which is very hard to pick are the letters you wrote to Ellerie, wish so much I had done that with mine. I think it’s a great way for new moms get all those emotions/ thoughts out during that first year. I LOVE the new way you document with her now too. So CUTE!! I have to share another favorite too, the layout you did on your coffee, that was gorgeous!! I don’t drink coffee but seeing that layout makes me want to.
Have started going through your podcasts too, so fun!

I was right there with you feeling all the same emotions that you wrote about and that was very comforting to me!. I think I first found your blog when you were doing the mixed media books? My favorite posts from this past year are the knitting posts. I’ve been knitting for a while – but your tutorials have helped me relax and bit and try something new (specifically using two yarns – like in your yellow / white cowl). Funny thing, before starting my own cowl, I tried to find your tutorial on YouTube – and the search led me to some a couple of your video blogs from when you lived out East. And for the record? I also think you’d be a SUPER Olympic commentator 😉 Many blessings sent your way from KCMO – thanks for putting yourself out there to inspire others and spread much joy and love. xo vickiellen

Specifically, the post where you showed exactly how you break down large goals into smaller tasks. These posts helped me soooo much this past year — i even set a goal (and followed through) to go to Italy on a solo adventure. It was the best time of my life.
