the 30th knit blanket

Last year, while I was knitting my 29 blankets, I knitted one extra (I think it was number 19). I didn't have enough of two yarns colors at the house and I was wanting to knit so I just started adding scrap yarn together. Of course, then I ran out of scrap yarn and had to go buy more to actually finish this blanket.

Originally, I thought I'd sell it as one of the 29 but then realized that would be so random. 28 striped blankets and then this one! This random one! #odd.

So I kept it aside and powered through the remaining blankets. And then sold them in November.

This one is still special to me though. I love the look. I love the warm color palette. I love the crazy changing yarns.

Like all the blankets, this was knit with simple back-and-forth garter stitch on size 15 needles. (I did 60 stitches per row if you want to make your own.)

I’ve been reading since 2012…this is one of very few blogs that I ready every. single. day! So many favorites, but definitely the knitting was my favorite this year. I was so scared to knit in the round until I watched your video. Thanks for sharing!

Oh man, I’ce been reading for ages. Since the pre-wedding Maryland days. This is easily the blog I have read the longest and loved the most. It’d be impossible for me to name a favorite post from the last year. And this blanket does seem especially special; I’d be thrilled to have it in my home.

Oh goodness! How do you even choose one favorite post? I love the motherhood/Ellerie posts (I’m a Kindergarten teacher in Fargo, ND, so I obviously adore kiddos)! Also the crafty posts and home posts. I’m hoping to own a home in the near future (I’ll be 30 on April 18th), so it’s fun to dream about home related things! Thanks for sharing your sweet life/family with your readers. Thanks, also, for the chance to win the awesome blanket! It would be perfect for the icy North Dakota nights after long days of teaching my kids (I adore them!). I have chronic health problems since age 8 (almost died twice), so cozy is key for me!

I’ve been reading since 2012, so it’s hard to choose which one I like the best! I think if I had to choose, it’s the ones where you show updates on your house and your backyard (I love your backyard…) Also, I am absolutely in love with the daily goal tracker! I have been following your blog since 2011 and still in college. I stumbled upon your blog thanks to Pinterest! Your post talked about all of the new ‘tools’ you and Paul had picked up together since being married. I still remember emailing it to my friends because of a line you put in the post. Anyways, my favorite post from this year was paper marbeling. It was so pretty and changes the way I looked at how I journal. I absolutely love this blanket! The colors are gorgeous and I love that the pattern isn’t perfect. At the risk of sounding like I know you when I’m a stranger from the internet, this blanket actually struck me as very “you.” I’ve been reading your blog for about four years now, and I really admire that you just go for new things, big and small. You make plans, but don’t get hung up on the little imperfections. I have big dreams (and little dreams!), but I have trouble with organization and follow-through, and I get caught up in things not being perfect. You and your blog have really inspired, motivated, and helped me do more of what I want to do. Well, this turned into a fangirl love letter, but I just think you’re rad! Hi! I found your blog maybe four years ago, from someone that shared a link to one of your 5×7 prints on Etsy (the one that said “it’s very simple, she thought”). Since then, it has become my favorite daily ritual. Seriously, I check it every morning.
I’m inspired by so much of what you write. All the blogging/small business stuff. Maybe one of my favorites was the love of the crop post, where you shared when and why you crop things, and then the following posts about B&W, etc.

Hi Elise! You had so many rad posts (seriously–you were killing it!) in 2014 so it’s hard to pick a favorite, but I loved the E & e posts and so many of the ones where you talked about creativity and motivation. There was also one about taking film photos that made me remember the feeling I got when I used to use film, and how exciting it was to have to wait to see what would develop. I loved the post with the video where you taught us how to knit a cowl. I watched it over and over. I was so intimidated by knitting, but your video made it look so simple.. And now I can say that I am able to knit! However seeing Ellerie grow might be one of my favorite parts of your blog. I’ve only been reading your blog for about under year now. I have been a blog reader for about 3 years. I wish I could remember how I found you but after three children I can hardly remember anything 😉
I love that you share your creativity in writing, photos and products. You truly have a wonderful blog and a sweet little family. Thanks for sharing with those you don’t even know, it sure is fun to watch your ideas bloom. One post that sticks out in my memory would be when you sold stamps at a craft festival and your booth was so amazing, I thought it was designed so perfectly for selling your stamps.
