scrap yarn knit blanket

Last year, while I was knitting my 29 blankets, I knitted one extra (I think it was number 19). I didn't have enough of two yarns colors at the house and I was wanting to knit so I just started adding scrap yarn together. Of course, then I ran out of scrap yarn and had to go buy more to actually finish this blanket.

Originally, I thought I'd sell it as one of the 29 but then realized that would be so random. 28 striped blankets and then this one! This random one! #odd.

So I kept it aside and powered through the remaining blankets. And then sold them in November.

This one is still special to me though. I love the look. I love the warm color palette. I love the crazy changing yarns.

Like all the blankets, this was knit with simple back-and-forth garter stitch on size 15 needles. (I did 60 stitches per row if you want to make your own.)

Hi Elise! You are so inspirational and normal, so thank you for existing. I have been reading your blog now for over 2 years, thanks to my bestie Danielle Mapes of lovefrommi.com. The post that sticks out most for me from 2014 is the black-and-white photo post you wrote. I know it’s so simple but reading it really made me breathe easier when it comes to choosing photo edits! Happy 2015 and may you shake it up every day!

Oh how I love this! And thank you for sharing how you made it because I have those size needles and have been wanting to make a couple for my daughters. I have been reading your blog for three years (I think) and your Make29 is by far my favorite series you have done. I realize that is more than one post, but ya know. 🙂 I am beyond excited for your work book. Can’t wait for it to come out!

Love the story of how you started working for yourself and evolved you business! I’ve been reading your blog for about 4 years now (and when I discovered it, I went back through ALL of your archives as well!)

Hello! I’ve been reading your blog since before Ellerie was born. It has been lovely to share your journey with you as I read your posts. I love having handmade blankets and quilts at home, such a beautiful picture of being wrapped in and comforted by something that has been lovingly made by hand. This blanket is gorgeous and would be such a treat to whoever wins! Thank you for generously opening this to OS participants too!

I started reading your blog when you were pregnant with Ellerie. I found out soon after that I was pregnant with my daughter so I loved getting a bit of a sneak peek into what pregnancy might look like a few months down the road, as well as what it was like having a newborn. I’m not sure I’ve ever commented but I really appreciate how warm and personal you are.

    Hi Elise!
I found your blog in 2010 in the flurry of getting engaged and planning party invites. At the time, I was working at Paper Source & thought it was so cool that you had worked there too! “Wedding Wednesdays” we my favorite feature on your blog.
Your blog continues to be so inspiring to me. It’s the perfect combination of daily life, great design, goal setting, an adorable baby, and Parks & Rec references 🙂
Your strength as a mother & creative business owner has been so beautiful to see and read about. It inspires me to be strong & go after my dreams & goals too!
& I can’t wait for the Get to Work Book!! You have no idea 🙂

Hello! I LOVE this blanket and pretty much any post about goal setting (I cannot wait for your planner to be launched). I actually quoted you and your blog in an interview for a managerial job that I applied for last year, you were my example of an inspiration, a similarly type A personality and someone as keen as me on setting goals. I got that job by the way and they actually went away and listened to your podcast.. Yay!

OMG i love that blanket. While i’m reading this i’m like, I hope she gives it away, hehe. Seriously, i love your blog, its one of the 4 i read everyday:) Its hard to pick just one post because you’ve had such an amazing year with Make 29 and all the awesome DIYs. I think my favorite is the series of blog posts you did on how you got here, just breaking it down for us. That was kinda amazing, the journey and then sharing your family story and ellerie, just awesome. Can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store for you! and for us readers. Oh and I love that you started podcasting, so valuable. Can I also just say since I’m spilling my guts here that I always appreciate that you keep your prices reasonable, like when you were selling stamps they were affordable and you weren’t charging like $20 which totally made me want to buy $20 worth anyways but seriously you on on point with the price point,ha.

I’m sort of embarrassed to be gushing like a fangirl for a minute, but one of my goals for 2015 is to be more engaged and more visible so I’m finally going to leave a comment! I’ve been reading for a few years. I found you while I was searching for some Project Life inspiration, and I ended up binge-reading through your archives that weekend.
I LOVE that you are a writer and that you care about how your copy is crafted & edited. I love your photos. I love that there is an eclectic mix of stuff you blog about: crafting, home projects, business, coffee, wardrobe, motherhood, but there is still editing and curating of your content, so the variety is still streamlined. I love following your small business journey (and I loved the series this year). I love that you’re a Navy family. I love that you’re a doer – you say things out loud and then you make them happen. I continue to be inspired in big ways and in little ways by your story and also by seemingly random bits of gold I find on your blog.
This year, I have really loved the E & e series and the film photos of Ellerie. And as an example of the random tidbit from your blog that has made a big impact on my life, in one of your weekend links, you shared an article where a guy wrote about how he used passwords to impact change in his life. That really moved me, and I’m so glad you shared it.
I want to see more progress on your house, so I’m hoping the house-related goals on your list for this year make it on the blog!
Hugs & a big thank you for all the positive energy and inspiration you send into the internet, from a first time commenter!!
