my WDS speech is online!

Imagine my surprise slash excitement slash nerves this weekend when I stumbled on my World Domination Summit speech on Chris’ Vimeo page. I’m a little to scared to sit and re-watch the whole thing but I did watch the first five minutes and the last five and for the most part, breathed a long sigh of relief.

What a pleasure it was to speak in front of such a crowd this summer – a career highlight FOR SURE. If you missed it, you can read my detailed account of the adventure here : part one, part two, part three.

Random, but I mention two women I admire in the presentation, Amy Poehler and Erin Loechner. I casually note that they are my cousins. This has not quite true but was more of an inside joke with the audience after AJ Jacobs‘ speech about how we are all related (you can watch that here). Awesome in real life but a bit awkward in the Internet world.

    I was so excited to hear you were speaking at WDS, and thought you were by far one of the most motivating speakers there (maybe because I like to make stuff too)! I was definitely geeking out after I met you and you were so kind to take a photo with me. I was so inspired by WDS and took the leap and just started my own creative business in September. It’s definitely not where I want it to be but I took your advice and just started! Thanks for the motivation!

    Only intended to watch a few minutes (it’s past my bedtime!), and ended up watching the entire thing! Just what I needed to hear right now… thinking about quitting my job so I can be more present in my daughter’s life and hopefully find a way to work from home! Positive thoughts appreciated. 😀

    Elise you are a natural at public speaking! You have so much grace on stage. Besides that though, you speech really shook me. I absolutely loved it, and I will watch it over again sometime soon. I am going to continue to just start, I am going to say out loud that I am going to be in Ireland in one years time, and that I want to blog everyday. There. I said it. :b

    I loved your speech Elise! It left me feeling inspired but also motivated to DO! I have a hard time with people saying “just believe and you can achieve it”. But with your speech, you illuminated the fact that we start to believe as we START to take the steps. Just like Ellerie walking. She believed in herself more and more with each step that she took, right? Here is what my sticker would say: I WANT TO HAVE MY OWN ONLINE BUSINESS.

    Awesome! You are so inspirational! I love your ‘can do’ spirit and approach to setting goals.     Elise, it is amazing and I waited for it since the summer. You know what… as I read your blog for a while now (more than a year) this is the first time I had a feeling that I worry so much abut your speech and you on the stage, that I am nervous that everything goes right. I really felt that my good friend is on the stage. And you did fantastic job! 30 minutes is really a long speech and you did it solo well. I will better go now to stop procrastinating and make my first step. Thank you!
