Grilledpizza Grilledpizza2

One of our summer manifesto goals was to grill a pizza.

We have this grill pan (it's great for cooking veggies too) and I used about 3/4 of our normal pizza dough recipe to fit the pan. Cheese on the bottom, toppings (onion, pepperoni and green olives) in the middle and red sauce and fresh garlic on top.

I suppose it goes without saying that after 15 minutes on the grill it was perfect.

Looks awesome! And, I’ve been checking out your new Archives and I feel like you’re going to get a bazillion more click-throughs — most of them from me, haha — as a result. The little thumbnail makes it so much more inviting to re-read old posts!!

We LOOOVE grilled pizza around here. I usually oil my grill a bit (preheat grill, dip a paper towel in canola or olive oil, wipe on hot grates), and put the dough right on the grill grates. I KNOW, it sounds crazy! After five mins or so I remove it, flip the uncooked side on to a cornmeal-lined pan, dress the top, and slide it back on the grill. I highly recommend this. We have a pizza stone I’m planning on trying this summer. Grilling is so awesome. 🙂

Looks delicious. I’m another one who loves how your archives are turning out. You’ve inspired me to find some time to work on my own website.

What a cool idea! As if I wasn’t already convinced that we need to re-invest in a grill (we had to dump ours a few moves back), this has reaffirmed it. I recently recreated my fave restaurant pizza at home (Brixx’s Rustica pizza) and obviously it would be even better if grilled.

Ooh, one more reason to look forward to living somewhere with a yard/a balcony/room for a grill someday, hopefully soon!

We make dessert pizza on the grill too. Grill one side right on the grate, flip put some chopped peaches, blueberries, strawberries. Don’t need a “sauce” and the serve with some whipped cream or ice cream. Delicious! We just use regular pizza dough… And the fruit we have on hand. I sometimes grill the peaches ahead of time. Nice not too sweet dessert!

What a great idea! That way you can add more toppings! We often use our pizza stone on the bbq and it turns out well.

That’s what we do to! We have a pizza peel for the transfer between kitchen counter and grill, but we just put the cornmeal directly on the counter so we don’t have a pan to clean up. A little unnerving the first time you do it – but so delicious! Great if you put the cooked pizza on a baking cooling rack – lets the crust get nice and crispy.
