Sunday Sunday2

Weekend days are cherished around here. Mostly because they are rare. Residency for Paul means working three weekend days each month in addition to his normal 10 hour weekdays. This leaves us with just five full days of family time aka magic a month.

Sunday3
Sunday4

I took photos last Sunday to celebrate the small and special parts of our rare days together. So much good happens on the weekends. The coffee always tastes better on the weekends. There is time for pancakes – with strawberries! – on the weekends.

Sunday5 Sunday6 Sunday8
Sunday9

We run the errands that are too heavy for Ellerie and I to tackle on our own on the weekends. We go on a long walk before the sun sets on the weekends.

Sunday7Sunday12Sunday10Pizza

We FaceTime with our families in Sacramento on the weekends. We play on the floor on the weekends. We bake pizzas on the weekends.

Sunday15

The best part of taking photos all day is that by the evening I'm amazed at how much we actually accomplished (hanging out on the couch with the baby counts as a weekend accomplishment) in our short time together. There is always so much to be thankful for at the end of a long Sunday.

I am wearing a super comfy tee from Pickwick & Weller in these photos, but that's not special for the weekends. I've seriously cleared out my closet since Ellerie was born (the saga that is my closet clear out is another post for another day) and in the process have learned the value of owning a few things that you love and fit perfectly than tons of things that are almost right. As part of my clear out, I've been on the "perfect t-shirt hunt" and ordered The Hanna & The Margot in October. I loved both and so when P&W reached out about a potential partnership post, I was thrilled to say yes. They sent me the Ondine, which is long-sleeved and linen. I loved the cut and feel and wore it all day long Sunday. It was an instant favorite.

If you're interested in trying a tee from Pickwick & Weller, click this link to take a short style quiz. After the quiz you can enter your email address to receive a code for 25% off your $50 or more purchase. (There is no obligation to buy and shipping and returns are always free.) And just random tip – I found that if you're between sizes (like sometimes a small/sometimes a medium) it's better to order up.

This post was sponsored by Pickwick & Weller, a company I am a major fan of and purchase from myself. As always all words and opinions are my own. Learn more about P&W here.

lovely pictures. I’m working on making weekends more family oriented and not just another day. And I just have to say that I’m envious of your clean garage! 🙂

I really liked this post. Counting the blessing of every day moments. I also like the P&W recommendation. I am a t-shirt everyday kind of person, I like them to be quality, and I would NEVER have run across this company. Can’t wait to see what they send out! (And I bought one for my super picky husband too.)

don’t you love when you face time with family it’s usually only half of their face you get to see because they’re too intent on looking at the baby to pay attention?
my mom does it all the time to my sister, and it’s kind of endearing.

Do they wash well for the next wear? I’ve bought t-shirts from Jcrew, Gap, and Old Navy and I feel like almost every single one loses its shape or stretches out. I wash on warm and dry on low so I’m not sure if it’s me or them.

I do hope you share your closet saga. I’m due with my first kiddo any day and can already tell I hate 90% of my pre-baby clothes. I’m curious how you’ve been rebuilding your wardrobe.

I LOVE the mug that Paul’s using for his coffee! I’m a Disney travel planner and happen to use the same exact mug (labeled “mom” of course) while I work and almost every morning when I read your blog! 🙂
Great post, as always. Weekends, family time, celebrating the small (yet big) things = all good stuff. Thanks for sharing!

I’ve been hearing so many good things about this company, and just placed my first order for this exact shirt! Thank you for posting the discount code – it pushed me over the edge to take the plunge!

My family used to do pancakes every Sunday when I was a kid. I definitely miss those days and long to have someone to pick up that tradition with again.

Lovely post, as usual :). I wish I could capture our days in words as beautifully as you do! BTW, how do you get such cute pictures of you and Ellerie? Did you take them yourself or Paul did?

Love the post and the pictures! I was just curious as I was reading, do you and Paul still share the one vehicle? If so, I’m sure that makes the errands a bit more challenging!

ha! yes… facetime is for sure more about the baby than anything else. and there is often a delay so she’ll do something and seconds later they react. 🙂

good question! I have NOT washed the ondine yet, but the others I own I have washed (just normally… usually warm and low too) at least three times and feel like the fit is still great.

oh man. I will for sure. I have gotten rid of probably 85% off my clothes. made me sick to my stomach but it was the right choice. Hoping to get a post together early in the new year.
and congrats on the new babe! hope everything goes smoothly. 🙂

we don’t! We are leasing a second, smaller car that Paul uses to get to work. I actually loved having just one car, but we NEED two now. It’s so important for e and I to get out of the house daily.

Those shirts seem really great…I’m 5’11” and all my JCrew shirts get really short after a few washings (even without putting them in the dryer). The long t-shirt could be perfect for me. Thanks for the link to the survey/ coupon!

Totally agree Elise, recording your day through photos and then reflecting on what you did and what was good….is a great way of practicing gratitude.
I’ve been taking 15 photos of my day on the 15th of the month, for a few months now. I sort through the images and then post them on my blog.

Do you guys use a reusable filter for the Chemex?? It looks like cloth in the picture. Would love an updated coffee post, I know you mentioned that you guys were trying out some new coffee, my husband and I love our Chemex and we are totally stuck on the Christmas blend from Starbucks right now!
