happy halloween from my tiny flamingo.

Flamingo

This might be my favorite sewing project yet. But it's not very practical as a costume… the flamingo neck doesn't stand up straight so it really only works laying down. That's okay though, Ellerie is excellent at laying down. The wings are my favorite part (I used felt for the base, added felt feathers and then secured them to store bought butterfly wings). We'll be keeping them for future dress-up play for sure. (…and maybe next October I'll get a real tutorial for this costume together.)

    Adorable!! Baby Halloween costumes are the best. You could insert an empty paper towel roll (or one taped to part of another to extend it) to make the head stand up before you sew it shut : ) Not that you need it like you said, laying down baby costumes are perfect for laying down babies!

    Great tip! Yeah, I can get it to stand up, but not when it’s attached to the hat, it then just flops to the side. I think it’s too long maybe?

    Hmm. Maybe pin it an inch shorter and see if that works? It sounds like maybe it needs a wider base, maybe some stuffing to kind of support it like you would with play-doh to get a straw to stand up. Or just let it be adorable as is : )

    So Cute……..maybe a couple of wooden skewers inside the head are light and may give it some strength. Or even a paper towel or glad wrap roll (you know when the roll is empty and you have the cylinder left). Either way this is going to be a memorable 1st Halloween for little Ellerie.
