Plwk19

It's week nineteen and I love this project.

Week of : May 6 – May 12.

What happened this week? I was home. Settling into being home until the baby comes. Maaaybe a little bit bored.

Plwk19right

Anything special in the spread? Nada. Keeping it simple. Photos. Journaling. Clean, clean, clean. I know that there are two photos of my hand holding three (different) tomatoes. Sort of like bookends of the week.

Techniques this week : See above. Just photos and normal stuff. Love that the colors all cordinate a bit though.

Overall thoughts : I'm curious to see how I keep up with this project once the baby gets here. I know I'll keep weekly spreads, but I may transition to putting them all together once a month (and having photos printed out of the house). I still plan on writing journaling on cards and saving bits of paper to add to the layouts, but I just cannot imagine battling my printer for photos every week with the little one. We'll see how it goes.

Ratio of iPhone photos to "real camera" photos : 7 to 4.

Ratio of photos taken by Elise to photos taken by Paul : All Elise this week again.

Supplies used : Seafoam core kit, Kelly Purkey letter stickers & label sticker, Whitney Rae Paper Hooray stamp, Evalicious embellishments.

Tools used : Design A pocket pages, Fiskars corner rounder, Zig Millenium pen, Rotatrim paper trimmer, Office Depot date stamp, staz-on ink. All photos were printed at home on my HP Photosmart 2575 printer on Office Depot semi-gloss photo paper.

Project Life is a memory-keeping system created by Becky Higgins. I use photos, text and stuff to document our life weekly. You can see all the posts from 2012 here and 2013 here. Do you have a question about how I am tackling this project (including anything about the photos)? Check here.

    hey elise,
I saw that you had a donkey tail succulent. Do you give it direct or indirect sunlight?
does the sun every directly shine onto your little TV console area and onto the plant? I’m thinking of buying one (because yours is so cute!) but I don’t have a place for it to receive direct sunlight but a place for tons of indirect sunlight!

Mine is thriving in indirect sunlight. 🙂

You might be surprised while your little one is still tiny – with my first I was amazed how much reading I got done during maternity leave! Babies sleep a LOT. It’ll be harder once she gets more alert, and then once she’s on the move… 😉

I know many moms of little ones who swear by the Selphy 900. You could print from your phone while nursing even ( at least that is what one friend says.) good print quality and well priced. I do not have one yet, but am going to be buying one soon.
Thought this might help you with the photo printing part.

I don’t do project life(yet) but I do set up a monthly picture file on my computer and every time I upload my pics I put the ones I love in that months file. I then get them printed through a company online at the end of the month. Already having them ready on a separate file means not having to go through sooooooooo many pics at the end of the month.
    Hope this makes sense.

I’m curious to see what you find works best for you after your new addition arrives. I’ve been finding it hard to keep up and stay even somewhat organized currently (printing at Costco once a week to once a month) and was not super happy with the print quality, everything was super super dark. So I just got a photo printer (canon MG6320). I thinking printing at home will make things a lot easier to keep up with, we’ll see. I have it set up wirelessly but have heard you can even print from your iPhone, so hoping to get that set up today 🙂 …and as always, love your spreads! and love the Seafoam kit!!

I found it pretty easy to keep up with PL when my baby arrived. In fact – it was the only scrapping I did and I love having a record of her little milestones that first year. My process has always been to order prints once every 4 to 6 weeks, but I sit down each week to select prints, journal while memories are still fresh and sketch out my layout. And I second what someone said above – tiny babies sleep A LOT, and while some of that time you should be sleeping too (!) (my mantra the first 4 weeks is always sleep when the baby sleeps) there will be time to do something simple like PL. And I also got a ton of reading done on mat leave as I would read while she nursed.
Your blog inspires me every day! Thanks.

I can’t wait till our tomato plants start producing. I know my husband didn’t buy cherry or roma, but other than that it will be a surprise :o)
I love the belly picture for the week. That blue dress is gorgeous!

What kind of stamp pad do you use that will dry on the photos?

Always love your p.l. posts. Question… the ampersand you painted with chalkboard paint. What brand of paint did you use? Did you brush it on or spray it on? Did you prime it first. If so, what brand of primer did you use? As always, thank you for your help.

Elise – sending you tons of positive energy for the next few months as your little one arrives! Still amazed and inspired by your blog ~ your word brave is reflected in so many of your posts. (I am doing PL for first time this year in a 2 page spread per month. I find it easier for me. I have a feeling while that’s what you think you may try, you probably will want to capture all those details of the three of you weekly still. betcha you will 🙂 all the best 🙂

Thank you! I will absolutely be keeping weekly spreads, just considering compiling them once a month or every few weeks. 🙂 I agree, I will not want to give up details.

Such an awesome variety of pics! I love that the tomato shots frame the spread so well! I’m sure you’ll find a way to fit Project Life in once bub comes along… You’ll have so much to include in your spreads that I’m sure you won’t want to miss out on the chance! 🙂

I do think it’ll be trickier finding the time once the baby is born. But I guess the most important thing is to take as many photos as you can – you can always edit them and do you PL spreads in a big chunk later on as long as you have all the photos. I can’t wait to see how different these PL spreads are going to look when the baby is here – so much cute!

I had every intention this year to print photos at our local printers but it’s not easy and even after buying all the Project Life Supplies decided to go Digital this year. I love the bits and pieces but it didn’t work last year even though I have the box with all the bits and pieces and took photos all year long. As I’m on the computer with my photos it’s just a matter of dragging and dropping them into the templates. Anything I like to go in I can either take a photo of it (like an award for school) or scan it in. I do love the bits and bobs but it wasn’t happening so I just made an executive decision. The one part is that you have to wait until January the following year to print it but at least it’s done every couple of weeks. Always inspired by your everyday around the place and different perspective photos. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia

I love seeing your PL updates. I look forward to seeing your baby PL updates. I know you’ll be able to keep up with things once Baby Cripe gets here because you’re so organized and on task. I envy that. Still so excited for you all.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Guess again little mother. When baby comes you will be taking and printing and showing so many baby pictures, you won’t know what to do with yourself. It’s the dishes and the housekeeping and sleep that you’ll give up on. 😉

I used to print for PL at home, but transitioned to using Persnickety Prints, and putting it all together about once a month just like you are talking about. I love it. Their prints are AMAZING, plus they have a “project life” 4×6 and 3×4 option which are slightly smaller than those dimensions so they fit easily in the pockets. Cannot say enough how much I love love love Persnickety!!
