Learn-To-Code-HTML-with-Elise-Blaha-Cripe-in-the-new-Blog-(Design)-Love-E-Course

I spent much of this fall (and almost every minute of last few weeks!) collaborating on an e-course with Elsie Larson of A Beautiful Mess. I have been a fan of Elsie's for years. She inspires me as a blogger, crafter and small business owner. I was honored & excited when she asked me to help on the HTML coding portion of a blog design e-course she was developing.

This class was a labor of love and is an incredible deal if you are new to blogging or looking for some tips and tricks to fancy up your blog. Elsie teaches Photoshop skills needed for blogging and I teach basic HTML coding for incorporating your design on your blog. We break it down for Typepad, Blogger & WordPress.com users. Keep in mind, this IS NOT a "live" workshop and you'll have access to all the lessons immediately after sign up. There is no deadline and you can start at anytime.

You can read the full course description and sign up here!

Thanks so much for reading, have a fantastic weekend.

I have to say I’m a little disappointed. I always thought you were much… classier? than Elsie. Not as ‘woo girl’ as she is. I’m a little bummed you’ve teamed up with her.

Maybe you cover this and I just didn’t see it, but at some point, do you think you may teach how to code your own online shop? I love what you mentioned about being able to save money on fees by hosting and coding a shop yourself.

Hey Bri! Thanks for your interest. This class will not cover anything shop related and is focused on blogs only. I use Dreamweaver for all of my website coding. It is a pretty awesome program and I took a web design course in college that taught me how to use it. It is not something I have considered teaching myself, but could work in the future!

I have a design degree, so I know Photoshop and coding, but I love taking your courses on web design because I always find new ideas, tips, tricks and inspiration. The fact that you’ve teamed up with Elsie just means that there’s going to be 200% more inspiration. I can’t wait to sign up and dig in!
I’m excited that you guys have made it applicable across blogger, typepad, AND wordpress. Go Elise!! I’m so excited for you.

I was wondering, how much does the stuff in this course line up with the Blog 2.0 course you’ve done previously? And also, are you likely to run Blog 2.0 again? I’ve just purchased this one, but was still interested in your other one if you’re likely to run that again also

You are so sweet, thank you! Some stuff will line up between the courses. You should be able to outfit your blog after taking either course. 🙂 I am not sure if and when I will be running my solo course again but can absolutely keep you posted. Thank you!!

Yeah! I had been eyeing a blog class for several months now but it was so expensive and covered a lot more than just the basics that I wanted. So glad that I hem hawed around about it. This course looks just like what I wanted. Congrats & thanks, Elise!

Elise!! I just bought the e-course, and I love, love, love it!!! What an incredible collaboration. Even though I took your Blog 2.0 (and loved it), this e-course taught me several brand new things (and served as a great refresher). It is so wonderful that you guys are sharing this information in such a clear, helpful, and affordable way!

Since this course does not apply to wordpress.org blog, would you be able to recommend ressources to learn how to implement the same ideas with a self hosted blog? Mainly adding fonts, custom menu bar, archives…Thank you

Thanks Elise! I’ve spent the last 2 days reading through, and find it quite interesting so far. My ex did web design also, so I understand some of the basics from correcting his codes when he couldn’t see the errors. It’s nice to find out a bit more of the theory behind it! I’m looking forward to getting a chance to sit and actually work through the classes properly!

Sorry if you’ve already covered (I tried looking but couldn’t find the answer)…do we get a .pdf file so we can print and use for future reference? I’m super excited about this and hoping it inspires me to restart my blog! Thanks!

hey Sarah! I do not have an e-course to recommend, unfortunately, but the wordpress.org support forums are very extensive. It is not quite as good as having things spelled out for you, but they may be a good resource! http://wordpress.org/support/ I am not sure about the menu bar and fonts, but you would be able to implement the archive page information for any platform. 🙂

I was also curious about this. I have a friend helping me who is great at the coding, but not as experienced in the design area. I would love to be able to make the changes myself so they look the way I envision them.
The support forums assume a lot of basic knowledge. I wonder if there are any books out there that could help?
