pizza no. 5 : steak & potato.

occasion : we grilled steak from the farmer's market two Sunday's ago (as part of our summer manifesto) and had leftover for a pizza.

crust : our whole wheat usual.

sauce : a garlic cream sauce of Paul's concoction.

cheese : yellow cheddar and Dubliner, our favorite aged white cheddar.

toppings : grilled steak, red potatoes sliced super thin, fresh rosemary & pepper.

thoughts : this is Paul's favorite pizza ever and one we've made many times. It's totally a favorite and so far the best of the five we've made. The rosemary & pepper on top is key. If you don't have fresh herbs, no worries, dried will taste awesome too.

Sounds good and I don’t even eat steak! One of my favorite restaurants from my hometown, Pies and Pints, has an AMAZING Thai Shrimp Pizza. It’s sweet yet spicy and surprisingly tasty. Maybe some of their interesting combinations could inspire yours and Paul’s next creation! Also, Fayetteville is a great place to visit for some whitewater rafting and beautiful WV mountains 🙂

I make homemade pizza a lot, but I always put on the exact same toppings. Of course, that’s partially because it’s what my husband and kids like, but also because it’s so easy to get in a rut. Then again, I like the rut I’m in. 🙂 But your pizzas look so interesting!

    YUM.
I’m a recent convert to potatoes on a pizza, but I’ve definitely been sold on them. Have you tried sweet potatoes and rosemary on there? Heavenly!

That looks awesome! A great pizza restaurant in the Twin Cities area is called Pizza Luce. They have an amazing Baked Potato pizza: mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, broccoli, bacon, and they serve it with a side of sour cream!

My boyfriend is a super picky eater and I’ve been trying to get him into pizza (he hates cheese and tomato) because it’s such an easy dinner! This is a great one to ease him into it – he loves steak and potato so I’ll definitely be trying this! Thanks for sharing, I’m loving this project! xoxo

Ok, this pizza sounds amazing! I love steak!! The stuff for this is going on the grocery list when I get home! 🙂 🙂
I love following along with this project… It’s interesting seeing the ideas you come up with!
One question… Can you give us an idea of how the sauce was made? Or at least the ingredients for it? Thanks 🙂

We decided not to share it because it is sort of a guess thing that comes down to getting the right consistency. He uses fresh garlic, lots of spices … salt, pepper, rosemary, other stuff I am not sure about…. and then milk and a bit of flour. Lots of stirring over high heat to avoid flour clumps and then a lot of time to let it sit and thicken up. I know that is not precise. If we write a book we will flush out the recipe. 😉

Thanks for giving at least a rough idea! I think it will be fun to experiment and try it out! It sounds even better knowing the ingredients though!
