I love LOVE. But thankfully, Valentine's day has never been a big deal to me or Paul. If it was, I'd be sad to be apart today. Instead, I am just donning that red stripe dress and taking myself out to coffee. And then I may go buy the Breaking Dawn DVD. And then I am going to spend time dreaming about an anniversary in the future when Paul thinks it would be a good idea to gift me with that ampersand pillow and diamond ring. 😉

    Your perspective rocks.
    I think my best Valentine’s days occurred when I was a kid – lunches with a note from the parents, dinner was a little extra special (like the salad would have carrots sliced in the shape of hearts – super labour intensive, btw). NYC is nuts on this day. We do what my mother did every year – we hold a laid back dinner party, usually fondue. I don’t want to stress about what we should do, and some of our friends don’t want to spend it alone.
    I really dig your blog for exactly the perspective you’ve iterated here. Happy I stopped in this morning.

    Thanks, you’re absolutely right Elise! Today is all about sharing the love! Hope it spills over into every day. I usually make some little cards for my guys (hubby & two sons – 20 & 17 years). Last year I stuck hearts with our initials onto pillar candles on our dinner table… The middle one had K + S for hubby & me. I will probably make a chocolate dessert for my guys – that is the extent of “fussiness” here. Love your blog!

    That Modcloth top is the best. I hope I can get it next time it comes in!
    I’m glad you’re spending today on your own terms. And just think… next year, you can cheese it up with your husband if you want!
    My parents’ 25th wedding anniversary is today but because of their recent move, they won’t be able to do too much. Thankfully they’re like you and yours and don’t need to do a ton of “holiday” things to have a great Valentine’s Day.

    Happy Valentine’s Day! I love the striped dress and of course, that ring. We’re not big celebrators of the holiday either. Oregon’s birthday is also the 14th, and having tons of state pride, we usually try to do something “Oregon” – usually involving a small day trip. 🙂

    You’re right. Everyone can celebrate Valentine’s everyday by spreading the gift of love to one another. I like the design of that diamond ring because it’s kinda nerdy with its atom-like shape.
