New40loaves

Bread no. 32 : cardamom bread.

Adjustments : I used 1/2 C sugar instead of 3/4 C and swapped out two cups of white flour for wheat. I didn't cut this one in half, but I should of. It's a giant loaf.

Notes : so yes, I am absolutely planning on finishing my 40 loaves – just not on time. It's sort of nice though, now I can take my time again and seek out great recipes instead of rushing to the finish line. It's also likely I won't get done before Paul gets home (!!) which means there will be someone else to share the carbohydrate intake.

Review : this is fantastic bread. Fantastic. I have never cooked with ground cardamom and now I want to find a million more recipes for it.

I just started my own trek toward understanding how to bake bread! Sticking with goals is usually more important than meeting an arbitrary timeline, so good for you!
I’ll have to add this one to my list πŸ™‚

I love that you are continuing to do this and not giving up! The post are so fun to read so I’m kinda glad you didn’t make all 40 yet.

I love cardamom! I’ve never had cardamom bread, but I would recommend looking for bular and skorpa recipes. Bular are caramom rolls, and skorpa is toasted cardamom bread for dunking into hot chocolate or coffee. Yummmmm

I want a piece right now! You should try pebber nodder, traditional Danish cookies made with cardamom: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/pebber-nodder-danish-christmas-cookies/detail.aspx They’re so good! (I double the cardamom in that recipe.)

    Elise, how are you?
I realized reading your blog that you like to bake bread. I would like to indicate a Brazilian recipe. This is called bread: Bread of PetrΓ³polis.
I made this bread yesterday (unfortunately did not take photos) – the bread was wonderful, beautiful and delicious.
I hope you enjoy the recipe.
Please see the link to the recipe and video: http://www.receitas.com/maisvoce/pao-petropolis-4e85b80f1d3a3c3bb100147e

Also, just caught up with your posts. The Kolo video is seriously awesome! And the cushions/built-in area turned out so great! xo!

    Hi Elise,
In an earlier post, you gave me the advice to check Pinterest.com. I still thank you for that. I requested an invite from Pinterest.com, but I am on the waiting list. I read online that if somebody invites you, I can login right away. Can you or anybody else please send me an invite? That would be super!

Thanks I love your bread recipes! I have 3 guys in my home who are more than happy to inhale homemade bread! I will definitely give this one a try. I use ground cardamon in peach pie (it is very yummy).

I love cardamom bread! The kind I make requires the dough to rise like three times. . and it is a super dense bread. So good with some melted butter. After talking about cardamom on New Year’s Day and seeing this, I think I have to make some!

Yeah, I remember you saying that, so I was excited to find a recipe that didnt have to rise too much. It only took a few hours. So good though. Thanks for mentioning it on new years!

Made this bread last night! Here in India cardamom is abundant so it was fun to try a new use for it. Thanks for sharing!

I’m making my grocery list this morning and clicked on the link above and I can’t get the link to load (this must be a recent issue with their site because I can’t get the entire site to load at all). Is it possible you could send over this recipe? I can’t wait to make it! Thanks so much.
By the way – tried brussels sprouts for the first time in YEARS last week. Roasted with OO, salt, and pepper. I can see myself acquiring a taste for those for sure πŸ˜‰
