January2012

I realized last fall that year long goals are not my favorite. While I adore to-do lists and find that writing goals down helps me get stuff done, it's hard to figure out at the beginning of the year what is still going to be relevant by the end of the year.

So this year, instead of ambitious year long plans, I am going to set manageable goals at the beginning of each month and do my best to get through them in 30 days. This is what I am choosing to commit to in January. My new oven was installed and I finished the last few couch cushions yesterday, so that's a start…

I love your goals. I have been doing monthly goals for 2 years now and it works best for me. For yearly “goals” I just make a fun list of thing that I hope to get done durning the year–like my 52 things to do in 2012 list I made a few days ago 😉

Yes! I did this last year as well and really liked having a monthly to do list. Although i didn’t always stick to it, it was good to have a plan heading into each month.

Great list! I’m trying something similar this year too. I have a rough idea of what I want to tackle this year so each week I’m going to write down 5 little tasks I can work on to help me reach those big goals. It might be a little scattered, but I hope it keeps me focused on the big picture. We’ll see…
    Cute pic too! 🙂

Choosing your monthly goals is smart. I learned to swim at the end of last year and each time I buy a new monthly adult squad pass, I think “Right, I’m committing to this for another month”. It’s a lot easier to remain focused one month at a time and each time I choose to buy a new pass, I’m renewing that commitment to my fitness and personal goals. Good luck with yours. I’m so glad that you are happy in your new home.

    I love this!
I am famous for having big plans, getting overwhelmed and then letting lots of those plans fall by the wayside. Monthly goals seem so much more do-able… easier to focus on a month at a time and be realistic about what you can accomplish.
Thank you, thank you, thank you : )

I love having a list of monthly goals – I find it really motivating and they can be so specific to where you’re at right now (but I also try not to beat myself up too much if I don’t quite hit them all!) Also love your shirt – I got the pink version… the hit of fluoro-colour is perfect for January!
