enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

At the beginning of the year, I set four personal goals to accomplish in 2011. Here's where I stand with nine months down :

Runq3

I added up my miles last week and realized I was just four short of 365, so I knocked this one out on Thursday. Once I started training for my first half marathon, I figured I would breeze through this goal and be able to increase it to 500. But then I got out of the habit and started doing more Bar Method instead. Recently, I have been trying to ease back into it and am hoping to finish the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco on October 16th. I am sure I'll have a lot more to say on this soon…

Related : here's my running story and here are some tips & tricks for running & races.

Splitsq3

Seriously, of all my goals, if I get this one accomplished I'll be the most shocked. It is the only one that really seemed impossible at the beginning of the year. I've been making major progress thanks to Bar Method. Now I just need to get brave enough to show the after photo…

Tapeq3

Somehow I'm getting through this stuff. There is no way it will be gone on January 1st, but my stash will be smaller. And the point of this goal was just to get in the mentality that craft stuff is to be used, not hoarded, and that's been a success.

Breadq3

Moving right along on this one. But 16 loaves? That's more than one a week. I'm spending Thanksgiving with my family this year and hopefully they won't mind if our meal consists of turkey and six different types of bread.

So, yes, progress all around. As I type this, I am already starting to think about next years goals. And that is a major fail. I've got 93 days to crank the rest of these out and a resolve not to worry about what will follow.

Inothernews

I am heading out of town soon! GREAT news for me, not so great for the shop. If you are interested in having a fall book or anything else before mid-October, please order TODAY! I'll be doing one final ship out tomorrow. And also, I added a few more fall bonus packs. They are the exact same as the first round, except for the outer envelope.

I don’t know if you are making full loaves since it is just you, but making half loaves helps even for my husband and I. Or you could make loaves of bread and give them away!

I have a ton of washi tape! I would love to see how you’re using yours…
Would it be evil to show you this? http://shop.jansdotter.com/product/lotta-jansdotter-washi-tape-pink Mwahahahahah… 😉

Yes, lots of half loaves for sure. Almost every recipe gets halved. And giving them away is what I need to start doing.

I struggle with that hoarding thing, too. I just signed up to do a holiday show, so that will help me to use what I have.

wow! I think you’re the only person “I know” that actually goes back to check her progress on yearly goals. Amazing!
I love your blog but never comment…. sorry!
Could you freeze some of the loaves?

Wow, someone actually getting on with resolutions. Impressive.
But orioginally I popped in today to say that my autumn mini book arrived today. Yay! I was the one, odering it from Langenfeld, Germany. It’s so very cute!

Congratulations! I bet the holidays will make it much easier to tackle those loaves – it’s no fun to use the oven in the middle of the summer! And I’m excited to hear about how training for the second marathon is going! We both ran the one in San Diego and I’m running my third in San Francisco in November.

I just wanted to say thanks for introducing me to the Bar Method. I LOVE IT. Never felt so good about a program. Your blog is more than just about crafting and so appreciate your entries!

Okay so after a long struggle yesterday I decided not to buy the autumn minibook. Not because it takes 7-10days for it to arrive but because I don’t have a sewing machine and photo printer. Your pages made me want to get one but I figured that mine would end up being rather boring seen that I have a very limited list of supplies to use. Buut when I saw this post I went back to etsy and ordered the book (and a bonus pack! yay)
I figured that if i can’t use up all of the gorgeous pages I’ll use parts of it for my autumn mini 2012! so pleeease go on designing + selling seasonal minibooks until the end of next year 😀
aaand congratulations on the progress you made during the year. I love reading how you actually accomplish your goals, whereas most bloggers seem to forget about them after a week or two…

I love “progress is progress”. I wrote it down with Sharpie on some receipt paper and taped it to the wall behind the front desk at the store I work in/run.
I get so bogged down with The Big Picture and then I get disappointed that I didn’t get ALL my goals accomplished between 8 am and 5 pm that day. So I think this will help.

I love your blog and check it everyday! It is so inspirational for both crafting and life…it is almost as if this is my daily “pick-me-up.” You have such an eye for fonts and they are my current obsession. Do you mind sharing what font you used for your “in other news” line? That would be awesome! Thanks and keep it up!

Hi, i’ve commented once or twice but I really love that you set and check back on your goals – if you want to have a look, I write goals at the beginnning and end of each month on my blog.
Now about that washi tape, please can you share your projects – incidentally one of my personal goals this month is to make two washi tape projects – I’m starting to hoard and while it’s pretty, it’s not very good, is it?

I did the SF Nike Half Marathon a few years ago with Team in Training! I hate walking, won’t even think about running, and did it on a whim. So a huge preemptive congratulations!
