I’m continuing to make progress on this autumn minibook even though the San Diego weather is hardly cooperating. I’m looking forward to October and November, that is for sure.

I brought the red envelope up to the front because I had a personal story that I wanted to include. I’m not ready to share the text with the world so it got tucked right inside. I love envelopes in minibooks for exactly this reason (though they are also a great place to just hold long stories – see this post.)

On the back of the envelope, I added a photo of a pumpkin that I recently bought at the grocery store. I should probably add a bit of text below it to explain a bit more…

I cut down one of my text pieces from last week so it would fit in the book. (I actually glued things wrong so this is really two pieces from two separate paintings.) And then I sewed around a 4×6 piece of plastic packaging to add some gold stars as their own page. I love adding transparent pages for extra details.

I filmed a video that showed me working on this update. And then I sped it up to four times the normal speed. And then I put Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s First Snow over it. For some reason I find the whole thing hilarious. Like I laugh out loud while I watch it. (I’ve been living alone for too long, no doubt.)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy. It’s super quick.

Haha! It’s kinda funny how the camera shook a little while you were sewing–adds to the effect 🙂 Also, it’s inspiring–great to see you in action. I have all the tools/materials you do, so I should stop thinking about a minibook and do it!

thats okay! you can move on to the autumn while the fall sits. if you do an activity that feels summery, stick it in summer. if it feels like fall, put it in autumn. and sometimes it helps to just call one project complete so you can move on to the next. 🙂 have fun!

I love your lettering! You’re inspiring me to do some in the future. I pinned it on Pinterest and put your links and names – hope that’s okay! If not, just let me know.

The movie was incredible. It was so neat to watch you work and see how you do things, especially that tape. I need to get me some of that fast! Thanks for sharing and I can’t wait till I have some time to actually make one of your mini-books, they look so special and an awesome-ly unique way to chronicle what’s going on during that season.

Question on the paper cutter: Do you change out the blade? Where do you buy new ones? Just wanting to count the cost before I jump in and make the purchase. I’ve been coveting the cutter for many months now!
