The summer minibook came about when I was trying to think of a new shop item that I, personally, would be interested in using. I love the idea of collecting an entire season through photos, ephemera and text. In the past I have found that having a pre-made book dedicated just to collecting keeps me motivated throughout the project.

I chose a summertime color scheme and pulled together a fun mix of solid and patterned papers. The covers of the album are chipboard and the front has been stamped and heat embossed in white with a rubber stamp I designed just for these albums.

I started my book on May 10th and am at the moment going strong (it is currently not even late May when I write this). I plan on following through on this book until the end of August. I have been blogging my progress with of tips and video tutorials but I wanted to create a round up of everything – and that’s just what this page is. I don’t think it is ever too late to start this project and I hope you’ll consider buying a book a joining in. (Or just joining in.)

I will be updating this page every week or so with more photos and video links. You can click any image to see it in more detail.

VIDEOS

As I am filling up my own summer minibook, I will be filming “how-to” videos to help you get the most out of your own version of the book. I will be using the papers from the book and usually pretty basic craft tools. The links below are shortcuts to the posts that include video tutorials.

BUYCOVER

Interested in just a stamped and embossed chipboard cover? Purchase a non-holepunched version below for $5 including shipping. Cover will ship to your paypal address so please verify it’s correct.

Elise- have you upgraded your rings to a larger size yet? I’m about at that point- are they easy to find or do you get them somewhere special?

Hi Amanda, I did! I bought two inch rings at Office Depot and I have my fingers crossed that theyll get me through the rest of the summer. 🙂

What do you do if your book gets too big for 2″ rings? Help. (I went a little overboard the first part of summer, I still have until Sept 1.) Should I bring out some ribbon or is there a better way?

You can find larger ones. I have used 3 before. And yep, ribbon is also an option.

    Hi Elise,
Just discovered your blog this week and am enjoying exploring all the content. Wish I had found it sooner so I could snap up a summer twenty eleven book…your videos for completing it are so much fun! Will you be making any more of these to sell at your etsy shop? If not… any plans for an Autumn Book? Fingers crossed 🙂

Hi Elise! Are you still selling/making the summer mini books in your shop? Or is there any chance I could order your “quilted paper journal // saltwater” book with a “summer 2011” cover? I love those papers, but I want to make it a summer book!
