enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

This year is one quarter over. ALREADY.

Paul and I have almost been married a year. ALREADY.

Today is my parents' 30 year wedding anniversary. ALREADY. (Love you M&D)

Time is flying at warp speed and it is looking like April will race through even faster. I am simultaneously overwhelmed and inspired. Which is better than underwhelmed and uninspired any day.

I wanted to do a quick check up of my 2011 personal goals. I'm making progress but have a long way to go.

Q1run2

I fully plan on killing this goal. A fourth of the year down and 142.75 miles ran. I am planning on signing up for this half marathon in June and hoping to get into this one for next fall. That means a lot more running in my future. (And I am working on a blog post about running and what is working for me right now.)

Splitsq1

Not even a little bit. It is safe to say that I am less flexible than I was when I made this goal three months ago. I failed miserably at going to yoga in March so hopefully I can do better in April and over the rest of 2011.

Tapeq1

Progress! I have finished off a few (maybe four?) rolls so far. Washi tape decorates nearly everything that leaves this house. I have to come up with some tape projects if I really want to get through it all.

Breadq1

Six down, thirty-four to go. I knew this one would be hard, but yikes.

Personalapril
1. Continue working on all of the above with emphasis on five weeks of half-marathon training and bread baking. (Which is good – the carbs can fuel the running.)

2. Go to a yoga class one time (lowering expectations is sometimes the key to success.)

3. Build a coffee table & refinish the inside of the trunk.

4. Blog a million times, including more personal stuff.

READY, SET, GO. It's already April 4th!

That’s so true, sometimes, especially when it’s hard to feel motivated, for whatever reason! I guess there really is something to the saying “start small”. Good luck with your goals!

You might try to do a lattice type design with your washi tape…could be fun and something nice to look at. And, it would use A LOT of tape up for you. Good luck on everything. Look at it this way, young lady, at least you are aware and doing something. So many people just sit back and do nothing. So what if you don’t reach all your goals, focus on what you did accomplish, love yourself, hug yourself and feel good about it all. LIFE IS GREAT!

Good progress so far. I’m not doing so great with my goals, and I think I’ve let them go because of that.

I feel the same way about time flying. And I have so many things I want to do. And now I do have a baby- and I must admit it’s much trickier to get things done. But I’m much more productive during nap time! Have you heard of Artisan Bread Five Minutes a Day? A bunch of my friends love it. And you could make some washi tape magnets. You strike me as the type of person who might not stick things to her fridge. But who knows- these magnets may change your mind. I just made some and they are such an easy and quick project.

Good job so far. When it comes to exercise goals, I am never a 3x/wk girl. I have to do 2 times and then I can usually muster one more time. I think you have it right to go for 1 yoga class… it will inspire some more, I’d venture to say. Here’s to a great goal-accomplishment-filled April!

What half marathon training plan are you following?? I ran my first half last year and haven’t signed up for another yet – need to change that! I followed a Runners World UK plan and it worked like a charm… slow & steady all the way!

HalHigdon.com is a great resource for half/full marathon training plans. San Fran is SUPER hilly (I’m sure you already knew that)…I heard that race is tough!

Congrats Elise!! You’re rocking out this goal!
Is this your first half? I’ll be in San Diego that weekend to run the full and I ran Nike last October as my first full with Team in Training. I’m not blogging so much anymore, but you can read about my journey here: http://pages.teamintraining.org/sfl/rnr11/jessica
Any good recommendations for things to see while in San Diego?

I signed up for a half-marathon in Fresno, CA that takes place in May 22! In December 2010, I decided to break my 28-year couch potato habit (I’m 29) and joined a running club. It’s been KILLING me to run so much, but I’m starting to love it! My running group is hoping to do the Nike half in San Francisco in October, too. It’s possible! You can do it 🙂
